Head Position is fixed since one of the last updates?

So i did not realize this issue at first, because mostly i'm used in sitting in my Cockpit Chair and just turning my head around to whataver i'm looking after.
And this is working as ever without problem.

But as i needed to bow a bit forward or sideway (especialli with the Anaconda Bridge design looking upward) i realized that my head is completely fixed in position.
example: If i bow sideways to look down in T10 to see the landing pad below the ship, my real body moves sideway, but the VR Head will not and stays in place exactliy above the Pilot Chair.
This is not only disturbing because the hole cockpit / bridge ist moving with head position but also extremely limiting and disabling.
Before i ancountered this, turning and moving my head fealt very natural and helpful. Especially in dogfights where i have to move and turn a lot in all direktions.

I hope i coud describe this understandable.

For the moment i have no explanation.
Do someone else encounterd this?

This sounds like a tracking problem; if a headset hasn’t got enough spatial information for 6 degrees-of-freedom tracking then it will revert to 3 DoF - if the headset uses inside-out tracking, of course.

If you can tell us what headset you’re using, you’ll probably get more helpful advice 😁👍

Hi Arioch (real interesting Name btw. from "The Book Corum" i think. For me a longe time ago ;) . Did you read the other books too? Elric, Hawkmoon, and so on?)

I use as Headset a HP Reverb G2 powerd by a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.
To be absolutly correkt, i checked the Problem a few minutes ago,
and this only occurs with elite Dangeous. In MS FlightSim 2020 for Example all Head an Body Movement inside the Cockpits is correkt withou any failure.
For the Moment i only see one differenz. MSFS2020 uses the Mixed Reality Portal direkt and ED uses Steam VR that hooks in some way to the Mixed Reality Portal.

I will check if other VR titels in Steam VR have an similar problem with in Steam VR and/or MRP

Any good idea to this strange problem ist still appreciated. Thanks for this hint Arioch.

I will be back as soon as i found something meanigful in this ...

Got it!

With your litte Push in the right direction i figured out, that this problem "was" only in Steam VR. Unnoticed by me there had been an old addon/toolkit, that did this with at last Elite Dangerous an No Men Sky possibly more Steam VR Titles.
After disabling this ugly little thing the Head Tracking works fine again in the tested VR Apps.

So very thanks again for you help.

That’s good news that you’ve solved the problem - and yes, the name is from Michael Moorcock’s books, specifically Elric of Melniboné (though I have also read the Eternal Champion omnibus series when they came out in the 90’s, so Von Bek, Corum, Hawkmoon etc.) 😁👍

What’s the location of the offending sub directory?
Is a new one plonked somewhere different and the installer just didn’t clean up properly?
