Playing without head tracking (FreeTrack-based DIY, works like a charm) is like playing half of the game to me. Definitely recommended if TrackIR is out of options due to costs!

Hey folks, I want to get a head tracker and was looking at the head tracker pro wireless but see the company went bust, have they been replaced with an alternative?
Cheers

Just a minor point, we didn't go bust. We chose to wind it down. Lots of reasons why, one of them being Brexit and the impact on certification. We originally spent a big chunk of money getting both wired and wireless products tested and certified (CE and FCC) and we would have had to spend another chunk to get the new UKCA certification simply to continue to sell in the UK. There used to be a fund for UK tech startups to help with the costs of certification but the current government shut that down.
Ad Astra!

I for one (and there are lots who feel the same) couldn't live with VR at all*. Yes the sense of "presence" is amazing - but the negatives totally spoiled it for me. Maybe when all the resolution, screen-door and narrow focal radius issues are sorted I will give it another go but it will have to be with something that isn't a box strapped to your face.
VR is great if you can live with it and I don't decry anyone that prefers it.
(* I was pleased to be able to sell-on my Rift for what I paid for it.)

There are also things like Trackhat. That is an alternative to TrackIR. So you either have the cap or clip, and you use a modified web-cam, and then OpenTrack software. These are also compatible with TrackIR sensors, so if you have access one of those, but your clip is broken, you can one these as replacement.

As a proud owner of an original wired and wireless pro I'm really, really sorry to hear that Rob.Just a minor point, we didn't go bust. We chose to wind it down.
