Headlook without track ir?

yes. if you play mouse + keyboard you will probably want to put your headlook button to either your scroll wheel or extra mouse button if you have one.

if i 've got you correct...

i click my middle mouse button (wheel) to unlock head look, and can fly my ship and use the mouse to look around. But it can be hard using the mouse and controller while in combat :p

If you bind the headlook button to that key. It's how I have it set. But, it wasn't set stock that way for me. (I don;t use Kbd&Mouse)

Yes but can i lock that look position and switch back without focusing back to screen centre?

No, not if I understand what you want. In Headlook mode, you can bind a 'Center Head-look' key. That will obviously center your view, without exiting Head-Look, but there is no way to snap back to the previous, offcenter view. Even if you exit Head-look view, and snap to center, you will start at center again when you enter Head-look again.

If you have a webcan you can use facetracknoir. There's a free version so it's cheap to try and if you set you lighting well it works pretty well. (I have a lamp directly behind my screen aimed at the wall and it works like a charm.

Other than mouse control there are many ways to use headlook without Track IR;

EDTracker Pro / DIY EDTracker
Track Hat
FTNoIR / Opentrack
You can even strap a smartphone to your head :)

Rob
CMDR Olias / EDTracker Dude

I recently started using FaceTrackNoIR with a PS3 Eye and I'm getting some good results. IIRC it isn't free anymore but only a couple of quid and you can pick up PS3 Eye cams for about a fiver. Once you have the curves set correctly it's smooth and takes moments to get used to.

Dig forum for the FTNoIR (Elite D edition/setup). Put camera at the bottom of your monitor!
