Flat Rides Helion Ride skin - Forest Theme

Helion Ride skin - Forest Theme (finished)

Download here

Im working on a rideskin for the Helion Ring. Im getting near the end, but I couldnt wait with showing off some screenshots.

When I started with this skin it was heavily inspired on the Fountain of Youth scene in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I think when time went by creating this I kind lost that vision.

Anyway, here are some screenshots:

I still have some idea's I'd like to add, but it should be done soon. Hopefully you guys like it already!

Thumbs up [up]

I would suggest you to integrate the elevated paths in the rocks...

Thanks for the suggestion :).

A big drawback of this (I think) is that people cant decide for themselves where those paths should go.

Any thoughts on that?

I think it will only complete your design, your ride-skin. It’s incomplete right know (my opinion). Why do you think that people aren’t able to change or delete elements of your blueprint, to what they like? They still can decide to do whatever they want with the paths.

Only thing left to do is the exit path and maybe some more detailing.

I was almost done with this project, but then the idea popped in my head to add a little story to the scene. From the beginning there always was a general idea of what was happening here. There were some pirates positioned in a cave and (as shown on previous screenshots) when I added the queue there appeared a small camp with soldiers. But I never really played out what was happening here.

At some point I was experimenting with the crows nest and a scouting pirate on top of it, but it didnt really fit (the machine box of the pirate would show). The next idea was to build a little watch tower, which then quickly became a fort.

Now the pirates had a fort! ARRRRRR [pirate]. But why? Why did they come here?

According to the myth the fountain of youth possesses some really great powers [yesnod]. Something pirates would definitely be interested in. So, they devised an attack on the fort and took control of it! Guess those over payed soldiers weren't prepared for that, pfffft.

For some time now the pirates had control of the fort, even had time to make the area a bit piraty. Now its time for the Royal Army to take it back. Setting up a small camp nearby, they opened fire.

You'd think they needed more than one gun up there, but hey, at least they're trying.

Basicly that is the little story.

Once the fort was done there was one more thing left to do, the exit path. Connected to the main path, put some rocks around it, some trees overhead and done... ...Well, guess it's not that easy. It was missing something that suggested this was the exit of the ride. Dont you hate it when you get an idea in your head and you know it'll be better than what you've just build , but you have to break down everything to realize it? Anyway, in the end its usually worth the effort.

What if I could extend the fort a bit and put an archway across the exit path.

Im glad I did rebuild this part, because it looks so much better than what I had.

This is how the exit path looks:

I think its all finished now and Im really happy about how the whole thing turned out.

I just have to add a placement indicator and some instruction how and where to place the paths to connect it all up correctly. Going to do that tomorrow.

I am kinda surprised how little subscribers this skin got, I know it has been available for only a couple of days, but I expected it to do a lot better to be honest.

Im trying to figure out why, so I can take that into account for another skin. The only thing I can think of right now is that this ride skin kind of forces you to continue the theme it has around the ride.

Any thoughts on this?
