I agree with you totally. I had no time to play such a game when it started, then 2/3 years back I resisted jumping in because I knew being late would have this issue but now 5 years on, couldn't resist.

For me it was more like :

And I enjoyed every minute of it, every ship I owned added to my knowledge with its simple systems and limited abilities.
SRV driving is a skill to learn, and starting on one of the most intricate SRV activities is going to be confusing.
