Help a noob

Hello all! Just joined today. I am a noob builder. If it doesn't look like monkey poop, then I consider it a success! A few pics from my franchise zoos. All zoos are far from complete... even after 700 hours in game, I've always abandoned old franchise zoos and started anew if there were parts I wasn't happy with! Some buildings might have holes in them :p

Thank you. Any forum advice also welcomed!

Hi and welcome!

I think you got a real solid base there to build upon and really like how you're working with different elevations in your guest areas. Some advice I'd give is try to get away from square edged buildings only and find a certain color scheme you want to stick with through out your zoo to bring everthing together in a way.

In addition to more rounded or angled buildings you can also add more decorations to them to make the walls look less boring or work with the empty space in the air. Take the food court building for example: you can add support beams connecting the roof and hand a few planter or lights from them to fill in some space and also make the roof more believable. On top of that you can add some windows to the walls and work with two seperate wall colors (one for the lower third and one for the upper part of it usually works well) to break the solid brick wall up a bit and make things look more inviting.

And of course you can always look at some real zoos and architecture in general to find some inspiration. Then like the others said just keep on building and experimenting with different pieces and you'll get better everytime you play ^.^

Thanks for the advice!

New staff building. What can I add to improve it or make it more realistic? I built the fire escape from scratch myself. Does it look okay? This is a new zoo in early development so excuse the lack of decor everywhere else. I'm not too sure what to put on the top of the roof. Was going to add a door for access and a few planters?

I think it looks really good. I like the Elephant Fountain and the Rock Arches at the Siberian Tiger Enclosure

Thanks for the advice!

Really like the fire escape, nice work on that!

As for how to make it more realistic: make sure the windows and doors line up and remember there's supposed to be florrs/ceilings inside that building where people walk around on. Looking at the outside of the building now there are windows and doors in several different heights all over, which makes it hard to believe the people in there have enough space to walk around without hitting their head or even crawling. That's something I think you can look into and maybe change a bit other than that it looks pretty good so far.

"Hello I'm a noob" proceeds to post creations I couldn't do after few months in the game.

In general it's real nice, I'd say add a lot of background vegetation and rockwork, and also between gaps, to give your zoo a realistic feel.

My advice would be to keep experimenting and seeing what works/appeals to you and what doesn't, but having said that, what you've already been creating is absolutely fantastic! I don't think I would have the patience for builds like that, and I've clocked up quite literally thousands of hours in the game since it first launched!
