Help Getting to baron from no rank

The Cutter is an oil tanker meant to float in a straight line :D I've actually made the Cutter my miner as I had no other purpose for it. The Clipper is vastly more agile, it's just that it is a jack of all trades, master of none. It looks gorgeous though.

Clipper is actually very very good. Most people never take it to 11, so never discover the potential, how much it can actually take and how hard it can actually hit. Everything from blockade running, to undermining, piracy to mining, it's pretty good in a RES or CZ site and the explosive acceleration is amazing for chasing things down or dodging cops or other players.

It's very good.

Try Aditi. It is a remote Empire system below the bubble with a single other Empire system nearby. As there are only 2 systems in close proximity all the missions are between them. Take some passenger modules as there are many passenger transport missions between the 2 of them.

I made ranks 1-6 at Wu Guinagi in a day. The next day 2.4 came out and they nerfed it. It took like a day and a half for me to grind the 7th rank. I decided to come back for the Cutter at a time when someone else had figured out a way to rank grind quick again. Honestly, rank grinding sucks and I don't feel bad going to a good system to grind it out.

I went from Imperial Rank: None (100%) to Imperial Rank: Duke (6%) in one long session, total elapsed time about ten hours - I had breaks during that of course. Wasn't well that day, so just sat in front of the computer lol. I'd not done any Imperial Rank grind prior to this, though I'd spent a few days doing normal trading in Imperial space, which is what must have got me to None (100%)

I found a location - IIRC it's the Mainani one mentioned here - and I could hardly believe how many Courier and Data missions were available. It's while doing these I discovered there's a limit of 20 missions you can take at once - yeah, there were often more than 20 on offer. So, in my DBX with 24 cargo, I took all the data missions I could - guaranteed 20 one way and certainly 10+ the other - as well as any donations I saw, which cost me lol.

So, in one session I got to Duke, which made the Cutter available for purchase - I then decided not to lol. In the end - after spending time earning back some money - I did the Federal Rank grind which took far far more effort, and got myself a Corvette. I do now have a Cutter too - bought one yesterday - but it's very much a long-range hauler, mostly D-Rated, so can jump 20ly laiden (704t, with fuel scoop) and 29ly unlaiden. Didn't have the mats for a G5 FSD roll unfortunately, so just G4'd it :)

I agree with Scoob, it's Mainani, Mies Van station to Ngalinn, Hickam Survey. You can grab missions going both ways and it wont take you long plus the money is good as well.

Yep. I think I was seeing missions for 30 to 60k? I did the Federal ranking more recently, so perhaps I'm not remembering correctly. However, even at "just" 30k a mission, that's 600k every what, 7 minutes, when you're stacking 20 of them! So, if you're a fairly new player then that's pretty good money. That said, I likely spent more money than I was making, as sometimes I'd dock and get several donation missions. The thing is, perhaps it was Trade Rank related (I was already Elite) I never saw a donation mission for less than 350k, they were usually 1 million credits...that really hurt my bank balance, but whatever it took to reach my goal! :)

Switch modes (from Solo, Group, Open) until you stacked x 20 Courier missions for the Imperial minor factions, then fly all over with your Eagle and deliver them... rinse repeat ad nauseam or until Baron rank.

While kill and salvage missions are nerfed (instead of 1 kill giving credit to all missions it only gives credit to 1 mission at a time, ergo stacking 5 missions with kill 10 pirates means you have to kill 50 pirates, not just 10 and then finish all 5 at once) you can still stack up to 20 Courier missions (max number of active missions at the same time is 20).

I'm currently grinding up minor faction reputation and I am doing precisely this... stack x 20 courier missions and fly around in Eagle to complete them.

Possibly RNG luck, but I usually managed to fill my full quota of 20 Courier/Data missions without any board flipping when doing the Imperial Ranks. Wasn't so lucky with the Feds, but did ok. I stopped for a bit when all missions appeared to dry up for a while. My friend, who's currently grinding the same Fed location, says he regularly fills up with the full 20 missions currently.

OP ... as this thread shows, you can do it quite quickly .... but please don't come back here in a few weeks and complain that the game is shallow and a grind. The game has a karma built-in.

While it's true the data delivery missions do not require hauling cargo, some do have a requirement for cargo space to actually turn the missions in. It's important to remember this when you select your ship of choice for mission hauling. Keep as much cargo space as possible. If you take a mission hauling something, make sure you turn that mission in prior to turning in the missions that offer commodities.

That should only be for data missions which reward you with commodities.
