Help, I need Ship Rats!

I just got done exploring that canyon ...all paths end in a dead end :(

there was one that took a few minutes of traveling (in my DBX) before it eventually dead ended ..it was on the 137 to 139 heading...

I'll format the video & upload it to YouTube ...so going to log off & start that...then maybe bed lol

I'm fast drawing the same conclusion, the sides are just too steep - on closer inspection it appears to be a canyon of canyons, so attempting to navigate/map it is near impossible.

Just checked SysMap and the rotation period is 1.6 days, so maybe tomorrow the sun might be up, it would definitely make things a lot easier.

Aerial Survey from 50km directly above the initial LZ

Image(s) 1/2: Left is 0° (see image 3), right is 180° (image 4)

Image 3: 0° Bearing, nothing but a wall of mountains

Image 4: 180°, looks promising, but there is no viable through route on the canyon floor - the smaller hills, just visible at this altitude block the path at various points.

Several dead ends reached in the SRV or the way out is simply too steep. I eventually found a large enough flat area that I was confident wouldn't confuse the auto-recall and my ship landed fine, so I am now airbourne again, however....no man left behind n'all that....so I'm doing an aerial survey to see if there are any viable exit routes for Bomba to take to higher ground - it's not gonna be easy though dude, the canyon is 5km deep.

I think that depth is probably what caused the initial issue. If the game uses the SRV's altitude as a reference when spawning in the recalled ship, there's a good chance it would jump straight into the side of the canyon. You and I may simply have gotten lucky with our ship recalls.

I watched the video of the Cobra lifting the SRV (which is just awesome) and it seems feasible, if very finicky, especially with a larger ship - but there's no point in experimenting if we can't solve the crashing issue. Giving Bomba a ride up and then dematerialising out from under him halfway up would just be too tragic.

I did submit a bug report, so hopefully it will garner some attention, and we can re-convene tomorrow evening and see whether things are any better.

Many thanks to CMDR DrakeAurum, Tarrakis and Peregrinus19 for coming and visiting me, yall are aweomse! To bad instancing didn't want to work with Drake and Tarrakis and I see visiting me can be dangerous, I hope I don't cause too much trouble :(
But it worked with Peregrinus, its good to chat with somebody to prevent Space Madness... no wait, Planet Madness of course!

And some pictures!

and I of course have to keep messing stuff up, Peregrinus had to ram me a bit to get me back on the wheels :D

should have more time to play tomorrow then I had today, I hope I can finaly get some daylight again when I play. Not seeing anything does not help ^^

You can sometimes get Damaged Escape Pods as a mission target. That and some duct tape should be reasonably safe.

Update: Average uptime after loading the game is about ten seconds. Going to have to rethink this.

Maybe time to file a bug if you haven't already done so. Those crashes seem suspicious. Haven't seen one crash in a very long time. So long ago I don't remember when. I know I had one at some point, though.

I'll be here holding vigil over the canyon...chattering into my radio "not sure if you can here me down there?!?! Hello?....oh well, I guess I'll just read out the football scores....."

Whats your CMDR Name? I am still there in the canyon, in Open.
I'm still here, just parked up on the side of the canyon

one of my better climbing attempts, about halfway up over the barrier blocking progress:

another route, full throttle, jump, and use your boosters to "fly"

second best attempt, no screenie of best, but missed the ledge by mere meters:

After further experimentation, it seems that Bomba Luigi is not the common factor in the crashing issues, at least for me. Every time I get close to multiple other Commanders within the canyon, my game crashes within a minute - usually within seconds.

So for tomorrow evening, I propose to drop off my supplies up on the ridge. I'll then back off and let Commanders with more stable experiences pick them up for delivery. If anyone's hauled limpets out here, we could even meet in orbit for the transfer.

No, there has been instancing issues with multiple commanders on planetary surfaces since Horizons launched, the early stages of DWE were a nightmare at times, but we had 10+ ships at a time with multiple SRVs on the ground as well - but this was the first time I experienced it with so few people. I've been on the ground with 3, 4, 5... at a time, with no problems.

Managed to upload 1 video documenting finding CMDR Bomba Luigi in his SRV with , CMDR Drake Aurum, CMDR Tarrakis, & CMDR Craith.
I have another video showing attempts to find a escape route from the canyon valley & some SRV wall climbing...but that video is currently being loaded up to YouTube......going to take awhile, so time to get food run some errands & then come back to ED ...hopefully it will be done by then ...video below:

Here are some screenshots I took earlier:

This is good news. I did not see Bomba yesterday and I was starting to think Bomba was not a real person, but perhaps a fragment of the 2.1.02 AI, serving as a space siren luring in travellers and sending them off to a dimension called "Connection to Server Lost".
That leaves us with this probe containing Alliance Data found right on top of the canyon from Bombas location.

It has curiously been removed during the night. I will continue to search topside for more suspicios activity - perhaps there is a hidden base somewhere:eek:
