Help, I'm stuck...

I'm beginning to think the game has moved me...

I generally fly with no less than 3/4 in the fuel tank, so I should be able to plot back to a previous destination with the tank at that or less. But am unable to plot a way out of this area with my tank at 1/4.

I habitually set off the Discovery Scanner at every star. What I could do with is if the galaxy map would show those systems which I have scanned.

Or maybe some nice Dev person could get my last 50 discoveries from the game database :)

As noted above, don't plot. Go manual and look at the little hats that appear over stars as they actually work!

The plotter bemuses me sometimes. It can't plot a route through sparsely populated space though it can do it, albeit slowly, in the core. Sometimes, there is even a spider web blue line going to a star it can't plot. Yesterday I did a plot as far as it would go, saw a blue spider line to the next system which it couldn't plot to and when I got there to check it out, the unplottable system was well inside my full fuel jump range.

There no rhyme nor reason to it so I suggest you ignore the plotter while you are stuck.

The plotter won't plot a route if the route goes backwards to go forwards - if you know what I mean - it's more noticeable in sparse areas.

indeed when you look on the galaxy map, if the system shows a white ring in the popup when you mouse over it, then you have already visited that place, so even without ED Discovery or Captains Log, it is possible to see where you have been... and back track manually that way...

Have you tried looking for your previously explored systems by checking for whether or not system data is available.? That way you can at least retrace your steps..

Thanks for the advice.
.
I backtracked a couple of hundred lightyears using that method, even though the route didn't show them as viable, and then took a different route around that dead end.

Again, you need to realize the route planner only takes into account routes that can be done with a full tank. Anything more has to be done manually, without the plotter. You won't see the blue lines and the plotter will tell you there's no available route....even though there is.

I think he meant he managed to find a way back.
