Help: Improvised Components

Hi all,

How do I get Improvised Components? The game tells me civil unrest sources. I'm in a system on that state now (there's like three in the bubble). I've been to all the Encoded Emissions that have a state of Civil Unrest, but none of them turn up the goods. I've been doing this for an hour now. I feel I'm doing something wrong?

Improvised components only appear in high grade emissions. Only thing you can find in encoded emissions that would help are configurable components which you can trade up in the same row for improvised components. You are probably better off farming imperial shielding and cross trading at the material trader.

How do High Grade Emissions work these days? As I'm not seeing new USS' appear on my scanner any more, so I it seems that there is no way of getting this directly?

How does one farm imperial shielding?

Try other systems which are in Civil unrest and keep looking for High Grade Emissions. I think a system with high population yields better results. (not 100% sure though)

You can also get Improvised Components as mission rewards.

I've only been able to find three systems in civil unrest at all so far. I'll look out for missions in these systems too, as I've never seemed to have picked them up as rewards before.

IC's are hot at the moment at 'Sherbo' System. HGE about 6.5k out. Drop rate between 2-4, the lowest drop rate I have ever experienced. I have managed to farm 100 in 35 minutes today using the 'rinse repeat' method. There was a second HGE but I didn't check it out. Get em while thy'er HOT!

use eddb.io/system to find systems with that state. then on the results click on each system to see if they have more than 1 state.
go only to systems with only 1 state that you are looking for this improves chance of the signal source from that state.
also avoid federation empire systems. federation has chance to drop core dynamics instead of what you are looking for and empire drops imperial shielding.

Just play the game and drop into signal sources you see and grab what's there, scoop materials when you destroy ships - then trade for what you need.

If you try to search for specific items, you're just going to get annoyed.

Improvised components?

Do you have any goats as a sacrifice? That's probably as good a method as anyone else has tried.

There have been many occasions where I've come up to a civil unrest HGE and found proto heat radiators and the like. Look for something else and take it as a nice bonus should you ever find any.
