Help me to not loose interest for the game :(

as a new player (2-3 months old?) for this game, with my VR; i am a bit lost in the game about what to do and which path to follow.

i was recently using DBS. but died a few times. lost many bounties and cargo etc. that was big mistake and it broke me.

now returned back to Viper mk4. traveled wolf system for engineers content. enhanced my multi cannons . and now what?

i am googling internet since days about which path to follow. a trader, bounty hunter , miner? i don't want smuggler . being bounty hunter is fun but it looks like i can't fit my ships well. DBS was more agile than this mk4 viper.

anyway. maybe i should be a Courier ?

i love fighting but aim not that skilled yet. i keep loosing battles if the enemies are high number. 1 vs 1 is okay. sometimes 1vs2 too.

i want to peacefully fly galaxy, explore stuff etc. and what is this explorer anyway? fly as possible as far away and scan around? how it brings good income? just jump and scan jump and scan?

Trader sound good but i don't want to use internet tools to find goods to sell etc. VR is not good for type and use pc u know what i mean?

but delivering a specific product is okay. is that what courier is?

Data thief!

fly round the galaxy and try and find +++ planet bases

once you found one simply get in your SRV drive and scan the core data point(big green beacon can see from the air) .

you'll can get around 700k a pop for the data plus no chance of loosing your ship

I feel like a hunter roaming systems searching and stealing ;)

Elite isn't a game where fighting multiple opponents is something to take lightly, so don't feel bad if you're struggling with that. You'll want a very well equipped ship and/or some friends. If you don't play with other players then resource extraction sites or systems where you get police backup are an option. Take hunting missions and use a kill warrant scanner to add to the straight bounty income. Don't be ashamed to retreat if you're taking damage and go back to the station reasonably often so you don't lose too much if you die.

Trading I don't like to do in VR as you can't do anything else while you're flying back and forth, it's quite tedious.

Exploration is cool but don't expect to make much money from it.

I worked a Rare Trade route in a Cobra making about 1+ million an hour till I got to about 80 mill (a good way to get money fast). I then built and decked out my Asp and went "walkabout" for a few months. I have a fighter stashed for more visceral gameplay but I do enjoy exploration. Just visited Sag A and now on the way back (sorta). Have seen many earth like planets. neutron stars and black holes, etc. Not sure how many million in data I have but for me it's not about the money. I have plenty.
There are many ways to play Ed, some of which I have not tried, especially not having Engineers yet. It depends on what turns your crank how you play, but the depth of this game for the price is exceptional and gets better every year.
As one who was raised by a father who was an astronomer and lectured at the planetarium when I was a youngin, exploring in Ed in VR is a joy. I wish he had lived to see this. It would have knocked his socks off I'm sure.

This sounds fun but don't you get attacked when you start scanning that data or are you wiping out the skimmers first?:O
