Hi CMDRs. 07.
I need some advice. I’ve seen a lot of you building amazing cockpits and CMDR chairs. I need a really smart solution for the tiny flat that my wife and I are moving into. We’re not going to have space for a desk, and we’re looking to have just folding chairs so I need a really smart, stashable way of using my desktop PC. Mostly for ED of course. We want to be able to do everything from the sofa.
My current setup is all wired. I have a T-Flight HOTAS X, keyboard and mouse, with a 22 inch monitor. I’m happy to swap for a wireless kb/m. Are there any decent cheap ones with backlight? Including a trackpad might help save space but so far all of the trackpad ones I’ve seen are mini style keyboards. I’d much rather go full size if possible.
It would be great if I can get my HOTAS to work wirelessly. Is there any kind of a wireless kit that you can attach to a USB device to make it wireless?
At the moment I’m thinking of getting a wall-mount arm and swing my monitor out from the wall next to the sofa. I can put kb/m on a small folding table in front of me. If I want to use the HOTAS I will need more space of course. What I’d really like is some kind of a Murphy Desk arrangement that flips down from the wall, but I’m not sure how well that would work with the monitor, and it would need to be fully cantilevered as a leg would clash with the sofa and/or prevent me getting in and out easily.
The sofa is going to be under a loft bed so there’s a potential for mounting things above my head and pulling them down. I’m not sure how that would work though.
It doesn't necessarily have to be sofa based if I can make some sort of a folding CMDR's chair.
Has anybody here worked through similar challanges. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks!
