Hello! I have the Rift for a couple of weeks now, and although I have found pretty much my sweet spot on settings, I still have a few things that need some tweaking for improved performance, so hope someone can lend me a hand!
First, through all my tests, I have found that for me it's more important image quality than perfect 90 FPS. With the settings I have further down, I'm mostly below 90FPS and ATW kicking in all the time, but even so it manages quite well and have mostly perfectly smooth gameplay with awesome clarity and absolutely no nausea. That said, there are some spots where FPS does take quite a hit and these are the ones I want to address.
For starters, my rig:
I'm going to upgrade my GPU for sure, but I want to wait a bit until all the variants on the 1080ti have been deployed to make an informed decision, so until then I have to adapt my settings to the GTX 970.
EDProfiler Settings:
Now, I'm fully aware that I'm totally stretching the possibilities with my GPU, but nothing like trying, right? I'm looking on what settings I need to change to improve on these issues without degrading overall quality too much.
What I find strange is that once the FPS have settled, I then have a really smooth game play, so it looks to be more of a loading issue. I would have expected FPS to stay constantly bad inside graphic intense areas, but it's just those 15-20 first seconds. Any ideas why this might be the case?

i7-6850K 3.60GHz CPU - Bored at 20-40% usage all the time
GTX 970 - My bottleneck, looking for upgrade in a couple of months
16GB RAM - 16 more lying around, too lazy to install them

- The game runs very smooth inside stations, with exception on first approach. When dropping into the instance (in solo) FPS goes down horribly, and then it takes around 15-20 seconds to settle. After that smooth as butter... What I tend to do lately is just to drop into the instance and wait inside the no fire zone until it settles, and then I can approach without problems. So, this seems like a loading issue... What can be causing it? How could I reduce it in the above settings if at all possible?
- Exactly the same problem as before, only just when dropping out of glide. A bit more troublesome here as it's not so easy to park at 5km height without some risks. But again, once settled smooth as butter... I had all the planetary options on high before, and just reduced them to medium before posting and turned off lod blending as well, but haven't tested yet for any changes. Zero problems while approaching the planet while in SC/OC.
