Help! Personal discoveries log nullified after installing Odyssey 18.05

Dear fellow Commanders and FD

I've been exploring for a long time, and I've made hundreds of discoveries altogether in ED:Odyssey. Much to my horror, after booting the game for the first time after updating to version 18.05, all my discoveries have disappeared from the log. I'm currently about 1000 ly away from the bubble. Should I give the ship computer a good old kick in the side panel? I hope the people at FD base on Earth can remote-fix this for me soon so I can pick up from where I left!

Respectfully Yours,

You need to be a bit more specific
What do you mean "disappeared"?
How do you read the game log?
Is the entire log gone or discovered entries erased from it?
Did you try to search the log manually?
Which log do you actually mean?

The game journals are stored on your PC, the Codex data is stored by FDEV on their servers tied to your user name, upgrading shouldn't change either, it certainly didn't for me. We do need clarification as rootsrat said as nothing in ED itself is referred to specifically as a "log." Is this some third party app like EDDiscovery? They only draw data from the player Journals so it should still be there unless the journal path has changed in the app settings.

Thank you for the very quick reply!

Sorry for being unclear. I took another look in a less panicky state of mind and here are the details. I also added screenshots in hopes of being able to clarify the situation better.

The problem is that the number of my confirmed Codex Discoveries is now zero in the Codex -> Hub -> Discoveries screen. This applies to all regions I've visited.

The Region Discoveries screens under Codex -> Hub -> Discoveries (Astronomical Bodies, Geology and Anomalies, Organic Structures) show the correct number of discoveries made in each category except for Norma Expanse, which is my current location in the game.

I noticed the problem yesterday when I entered the game after updating to 18.05. I started scanning a star system in the Norma Expanse, and got New Discovery notifications for Ice and Gas planets that I'd already discovered in the same region in previous game sessions. These "new" discoveries were confirmed and added to the Codex correctly. All discoveries were shown correctly prior to the update.

A side note:
I'm an early backer of ED, and I spent some time exploring Dryman's Point long before Odyssey was released. This region shows zero confirmed Astronomical discoveries, but I suppose this is normal as the Discoveries feature was not fully implemented at the time. I also don't remember whether the number was shown before the update as I've been flying elsewhere and haven't checked in a long time.

Please let me know if I can provide any further information that would be useful.

Sounds similar to this issue from a few years back....

My guess is, the new update brought back an old bug (as per usual)
But it's also possible the servers are playing 'catch up' after a new update (as per usual)

Keep an eye on the Codex in-game, it wouldn't surprise me if it suddenly 'fixes itself' - but it's certainly worth a report in the meantime...
I'll have a look at my Codex later on today, and see if anything looks dodgy! o7

Yeah that sounds like an old Codex bug, I once discovered some "new" bio in some areas a long time ago, but it vanished after a log, puzzling but the Codex was recording it as a new species for everyone even though it had been discovered long before, so it looks like some old codex bugs are appearing again.

I can somewhat relate to OP:

Seven years I left my Annie loaded with exploration data 20 kly distance from Colonia. A month ago I decided to return, bought Odyssey for support and headed to SagA (some 10kly distance). There I sold my exploration data in a fleet carrier, but only got about 5 MCr - which was about right for the fast 10 kly I did. I figured I had lost my old exploration data in some update along the years, but as OP describes it, I may have lost the data for buying Odyssey DLC. Dang!

Thanks again for the feedback. I've sent a ticket about this and now I'm trying to muster some motivation to carry on with the exploration mission after this unfortunate setback.
