Hardware & Technical Help to get Frontier 2 or 3 to play

Okay this is a kind of plea for help, I am in my late 50's and recently made redundant.

So I have time on my hands whilst searching for a job.

I am not at all technically aware so I am asking for help from this community to assist me step by step in getting back to fill in some of my time playing this game from scratch.

It is to give me something to break the tedium of writing e-mails filling in job applications and making phone calls to try to get job interviews.

So I really would appreciate someone giving me the help needed to get this game to run on my pc.

This means I do not have any idea of how to go about downloading and playing either Frontier 2 or Frontier 3, the last versions released.

If anyone can help then this is my current computer

No additions in the way of software or hardware, as I basically used it to work from home.

Have a look at www.eliteforever.co.uk in the remakes section, you can download the games with a simple installer and launcher.

First Encounters Elite III
Format : PC

Pre- Compiled Dosbox Version
Download and unrar the file to your
chosen location....Run .Encounters.exe
from the extracted Encounters Directory
Select Audio / Video as prompted
CTRL+F10 = Release Mouse from window
CTRL+F12 = Speed Up Game
CTRL+F9 = Exit Game
ALT+ENTER = Fullscreen or Window

But I have not clue one what all of this is telling me to do, and have no idea what it means or how to do it.....

Google is your friend figured out how to unrar, and have I think got it running starting at hope now, appreciate the assistance.

If you don't want to mess about with DOSBox - and want the classic graphics for FFE, then I'd recommend you look into JJFFE (I believe DDED3D is actually built on top of that).

For FE2, I think GLFrontier should do the job rather nicely - unless you want to emulate the Amiga version.
