Help with a graphics problem.

one tiny fault in the silica substrate and all them transistors(up to 54 billion in the most powerfull nvidia cards atm are scrap its amazing they ever even all work at all imo.
my bets 95% faulty card (just didnt want to say box it up right away atifacts(black dot) on a cooler windows page with no games running is almost a dead cert in my book if persistant, still nothing a few tests should not reveal to a keen knowing eye.
(just showed my mate your pic and he did the black spot unclean twirly thing dance outta pirates of the Caribbean )

Just my 1 credits worth!

Take the card all the way out and reinstall it!

If it was delivered its amazing how much they get knocked!

Test for temps with under natural gaming conditions.

I had left it sitting at space station which is where i was seeing the most load and temp on the card but I highly doubt it would do anything to the card except show a fault that would have appeared sooner or later

That's exactly what I suspect happened.

Card likely had a defect in a solder joint, or suffered damage in shipping/transport, which wasn't revealed until there was sufficient thermal cycling or increased electrical resistance from current being passed through a damaged conductor, to complete the break.

It's probably something that could be fixed with a reflow, but even done correctly this will knock useful lifespan off a part, and it's not your responsibility on a part that is still under warranty anyway.

Nothing lost from attempting other fixes though, just in case it's something more benign.

That looks more like a monitor issue to me. The first video looks more like a backlight issue. Cables connected securely?

I've now done everything possible, change cables (DP & HDMI) and monitors, reinstalled drivers twice and softtware, spoke to PCS who where 'helpful', although they couldnt actually help. Have many other more extreme examples of the problems such as:

and all points inbetween, in several different programs. Have had to ask Currys for a refund in the end, although i would have rather had a replacment i was told no more were in stock; an untruth i suspect as it seems to be in stock at 10% more than I paid for it. Was offered the repair from PCS but could have been left waiting for a replacement card, which may have taken several months.

Just kind of glad it happend now and not a couple of months down the line. So back to my PS Pro it is, at least until i can get another PC. But thanks alot for help and suggestions all the same.

It's a shame it was sold as a "whole unit" as I understand it meaning you couldn't just send the card back?

Could you order the parts from PC part picker or similar and cajole/blackmail/bribe a mate to build it for you?

I was originally going to build one with some help, but the problem was and is getting the graphics card. If I had sent the card back by itself I would face the same problem with having to wait an undetermined amount of time for replacement. I did do a like for like test to see how much it would have cost to build and I think I might have saved 15-20% at the very most. But so long as I don't get messed about I can try and get another one in a week or so.
