Newcomer / Intro Help with a Vulture build...

Does anyone have the time to help me build a Vulture for PvE using only Farseer, Martuuk, Tod and The Dweller?
Its for my 13 year old son....
I’m struggling to get Resists/Armor right without the usual engineers.
I’m avoiding SCBs because of the powerplant restrictions (Overcharged G1, Monstered)
Weapons - Dual MCs, Overcharged G5 with Incendiary and Corrosive is the plan.

But yea....if anyone can help with the armor/HRP/shields etc id be most grateful!

I'd start with something like this based on the currently available Engineers: Vulture

Wouldnt recommend using an OC Incendiary MC on a OC Monstered PP, this thing will run hot as hell :) I'm unsure about my Mods on the Pulse Laser, as i dont use them alot but they are Heat/Power friendly so that might be a good Option (or Burst/Beam Lasers if it can power them)

Thanks that looks great!
Pulse lasers on my own account I’ve always gone with Long Range and oversized but that’s probably a terrible choice....I’m not very clued up on engineering lasers!

You need to change both the big HRPs to MRPs to prevent the canopy getting blown out. Those two MRPs are more or less mandatory on a Vulture against NPCs.

The problem with large multicanons is that you have to keep running back for ammo. I prefer twin burst lasers - long range with flow control.

This is what I'd use for CZs and RES farming. For assassinations, I'd use a 5A normal or prismatic shield and plasma. Maybe this is something for the future because it involves other engineers, though I think I'd prefer an FDL:

Generally when you go with lasers, you are kind of accepting a slower pace of the battle. (slowly withering down hulls, sniping from the distance, running circles, etc.)
For this reason (in my opinion), it's better to engineer for efficiency rather than DPS. Resulting lower power consumption means that you run cold and have more energy for thrusters and shields. (i.e. tanky build)

Felicity, Elvira, the Dweller and Tod.
That's G3 for shields and thrusters. Power distributors, pulse lasers and Multicannon are covered, the power plant is not. And nothing in terms or armor...

I went with multicannon, since you can't do much about the power plant. On the plus side, that lets you use a downsized distributor, saving a bit of power and some mass. You could even go down to a 3A there without compromising too much. One of them with corrosive, the other with incendiary (which practically turns it into a pulse laser with limited ammo, but lower power demands).

I have to contraadict Chris in a minor point, though: unless engineered for long range, lasers are biowaste for distance sniping - an unegineered pulse laser has a falloff of 500 meters. Sure, you can hit your target at 2 km out - but it won't have much of an effect.

Point defense instead of boosters, because you will lose your shields. And once you do, NPCs start shooting missiles. Same for the A-rated life support - after your shields go down, the canopy is next on the list. A-rated life support lets you hang on for another 25 minutes, longer than your ammo is likely to last.

I'd suggest the following: https://s.orbis.zone/cmc7

Engineered Pulse will fire forever and will deliver more sustained DPS with your limited power plant. The AMFU is to repair the cracked canopy before it gets blown out (only power it up when needed). With Engineers you listed I think I made the correct grades of engineering to modules.

This is my vulture with https://s.orbis.zone/cmcg

Hmm interesting, i never had my Canopy get blown out, but i tend not to facetank Enemys when i fly my Battleship Mantis https://s.orbis.zone/cmdc
Guess even after all these years, i can still learn something new in this game :)

Thanks everyone - I know it’s a bit limited on the engineering. I’ll help him get a few more at some stage...I’m just a bit busy re-leveling my own new PC account. (Keeping the Xbox account as well)

I’m thinking Lei Cheung, Selene and Marco Qwent will be next.

You don't need anything if you can avoid being shot; however, any beginnere that ises a Vulture is going to lose their canopy in tne first session if they don't fit those two large MRPs.

I can't see an AFMU being much use either- some FAS has taken down your shields, your canopy goes shortly after, then you shout out "hold your fire" in the hope that he's going to stop while you get your AFMU going. Surely, it's better not to have to deal with the problem. Likewise with the life support. You don't need it if you don't lose your canopy.

Also, NPCs usually start sniping your modules as soon as your shields are down. The MRPs will protect your thrusters and other things too.
