"Failed to read from response stream. Network connection closed."

Has anyone had any luck resolving this issue, which has occurred on updating to the new patch 2.0.06?

Support is currently reporting they are taking over 72 hours to respond and the issue is preventing me from playing.

I've tried the advice in the support page https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=283&topicid=101, and this does not resolve the issue.

I originally downloaded the update with the alternative method, as I have found this to be faster.

I've tried on 5 occasions now to complete the update process and keep getting this same error message. It occurs right at the end of the installation process, when the "finishing update" message is displayed.

I have tried rebooting and reinstalling the new launcher.

Thanks for getting in touch in regards to the problems you have been experiencing.

I'm sorry the issue has not yet been resolved. This is currently under investigation and will be fixed as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for your cooperation and patience,

I had this and I thought it was that the Versioninfo file isn't getting updated for some reason - so the launcher still thinks it's the old version. (The new file is there just waiting to replace the current one). I tested this theory by replacing the contents of the current one with the new one (after backing up of course). It seems to have worked.

Had this error. My solution (after trying firewall, restart, check dns etc) was to click on the 'Options' in the ED Launcher and select 'Use Alternative download method' and it started working. I also clicked on 'Detailed update log' but I presume that the alternative download method was the fix for me.

Actually scratch that last. It only re-downloaded the files but then failed with same error. Back to the drawing board...

Edit: Found a solution here - Basically do a search in your ED folder for all .part and .progress files and delete them. Click on Upgrade and let it resync and re-download.

I performed the same troubleshooting steps as you did and even reinstalled the launcher; however, they didn't resolve my issue. I found that I the error would occur just after the syncing process had completed, so in an act of desperation, I canceled the syncing process after it had started. I received the same error but attempted the upgrade thinking that some kind of cache had been cleared.

I found that the typical prompt message stating that I could resume the process later had displayed itself, so I bypassed it and canceled the sync again. I then tried one more time to start the upgrade process, but found that my "Upgrade" button had returned to the normal "Start" button.

I am not sure what the steps I performed had effected, but it resolved the issue for me.

So I did what you suggested, clicked Options in the Launcher> click on alternative download method> then click on Upgrade and it completed the download. Thanks for the heads-up.

Try this again in the game folder (from the beta) and search with windows all the files with .part and .Progress and delete them. It's the only way I could start.... I also deactivated the cache from the launcher in the options and close the launcher when you are doing that.

" If this issue persists further you may be able to get the download to restart correctly by manually removing the broken .part or .progress files that the launcher is currently using."
