Newcomer / Intro Help with Guardian site

Ok. I've watched a dozen youtube vids and read a dozen tutorials on how to do the guardian blueprint stuff. I understand and get it. If i could look directly down like the maps they all show, I could probably find stuff easily.

But ... I'm in an SRV and can't see the ground well. I've tried and tried and tried and tried to do this and keep failing. The most I've managed to activiate is 2 turrets. I simply can't find them fast enough. I can't see the "x" on the ground and can't translate the "birds eye view" of the map they all show to what I can see in my SRV. Add to that the multiple obsticles and different altitutude levels of everything it's very challanging to get around.

All the tutorials and comments make it look super easy breazy if you just "know what to do." So, I know what to do , but i can't find the stuff to activate and I'm crazy frustrated.

Please help.

I'm honestly at a loss. How do I do that so i can see above and around me>? Again, I've watched youtube videos on free camera and camera suite, but i just can't figure it out

Night vision helps. Also try orbiting above the site until your oriented just like the guide pictures then take note of where you land.
That helps keep track of what is where and you have your ship as a point of reference. It does take a bit of practice but eventually you’ll get there.

I've done that. But once I'm on the ground, I can't for the life of me find the six pylon activation sites. I just can't see them. I tried watching several youtube tutorials on free camera, etc... but I don't get all the x-axis, yaw, etc to set it up. I just can't find the pylon sites. Everyone else seems to think it's easy, so I must be missing something

If you really can't manage it, bring a friend. They can activate the pylons from orbit if they need to, or at least show you where to go via laser pointer. They'll also help with dispatching sentries.

I don't have a friend to bring.
I just need to know how to figure out how to find where the six pylons are when I'm in the SRV and have that view and can't see the "x" on the ground or the triangle shape.

There HAS to be some easier way to locate the pylons that I'm just missin.

If you are at the site I think you are - for getting the FSD booster? - you can land really close to the ruins' bottom left-hand corner.

The X will be almost at the far right end of the site, slight above where you are.

What you could do is print this off - if you can - and look at it in relation to what you're seeing on screen.

As has been said, the free cam and night vision are excellent tools.

The cam works like a ship really. You can make it roll, pitch, yaw, move up, down, left, right, in and out. I set mine to use the same keys as my ship so it all feels natural.

Hey, thanks. Yes, I know where the 6 sites are from a topical overview. But once I'm in the SRV everything gets confusing because i can't see the top-down overview. I've viewed tons of tutorials on camera settings, but just overwhelmed on how to set it up.

So I'm just stumbling blind trying to find those 6 sites, that i can see from looking down, but can't find in the SRV

Some said before, some you are probably already doing, and it is mainly a case of spacial awareness but:
a) Nightvision
b) Have the map visualized. Tabbing back and forth will likely lose your position
c) Know where your Ship is parked relative to the map, and use it as a reference point
d) Use nearby hills and terrain features as reference point
e) While the maps are fairly symetrical, they all have the a few unique features that can be used as reference points
f) Get all the pillars out the ground and kill all drones before bothering to activate, you can drive around to your hearts content
g) Use the external camera to fly up and have a look about. Not sure how to describe using it in a useful manner. Ctrl-Alt-Space - Move Up - Look around.

Thanks! But the one key question, I can't get answered. HOW DO I SETUP / ACTIVATE THE EXTERNAL CAMERA?

Once you've entered camera view, you should have a key to activate the "free" camera - part of your control options in the camera set up. Once in free mode, it can move like a ship.

I can t post a shot of my key binds for this atm as I'm not on the 'puter.

Ok. I've accessed free camera ... but then i can't move around. Anything i press, just doesn't do anything
