Help!

Good luck CMDR, I hope you can get enough mats to get the repairs done to your modules.

Personally, assuming that i had the repair mats available to me, i would repair all the critical modules first, then if i had the premium boost available (& a timer) i would go for a 10 second burst on repairing life support. Then cross fingers & carry on.

Where abouts where you when you logged off before the systems failure. You weren't right next to a body or on a planets orbital plane?

Yeah, well I'm at BP waiting for the fleet. :)
I have enough jumponium to get back, but not more and I haven't found that much at BP either, so I have to sit tight.

Iv printed off an earlier post (from page 500) that's saying all materials for all jumponium mats are available

Thanks, I'm aware of it, but the last couple of jumps to BP were all boosted, and I haven't found that much so far that would allow me to check out the vicinity (I need std boosts as well). The two neighboring systems don't even have planets to land on...
To be frank, I am deliberately minimizing the playtime to be fully recharged for the trip back.

Don't blame you! Im still incoming, currently heading towards where WP22 may be.

It's a pity that if we are in the same instance then we should be able to drop materials for each other to then pick up, play swapsies!

When I last logged off, life support was about 70% (I hadn't repaired it because I didn't want to use up the emergency oxygen....) most others were in the high 90s.

Possible. Does silent running turn modules off? (I've never used it so no idea)

Silent running disables shields, but nothing else.
I'm not sure, but it could be your life support unit's health. I've read that below 90%, modules can start malfunctioning.

Well I managed to work out *what* had happened even though I don't know how or why. All of the modules had suffered massive damage and several including life support and the AFMU had been reduced all the way to zero. Realising this, I logged back in and initiated the reboot / repair sequence. This has made them all at least slightly usable and I've now got 1% life support with about 30 seconds of emergency oxygen left. No point trying to repair life support as that would just use up the last of the emergency oxygen but I can at least try and get the other modules (apart from the solitary AMFU) back to full health - just need to find the materials to replenish the AMFU as an A2 can't repair much at all on a full load!

Having used up all of the AFMU, my main modules are now:
Thrusters - 45%
Shield generator / booster - 64% / 17%
AFMU - 2%
PD - 32%
Fuel scoop - 53%
FSD - 60%
Life support - 1%
Sensors - 16%
Canopy - 87%

Nutter Alert is definitely limping, but still alive!

Wow. What happened to cause that?

Thanks for all the help & good wishes. I've worked out what must have happened yesterday now I've had time to think rather more clearly (was more than a little panicked at the time!). Also helps that I found out where Shadowplay had put the video I thought hadn't been recorded - the directory had been reset to default.

Basically, I obviously hadn't logged off and I can only assume I had left the ship near a star. My HOTAS is a bit temperamental and can both drift and the throttle axis can slip. So I think it resulted in my ship slowly cooking. By all rights, I should have died. When I returned to my PC it wasn't actually at the main menu, but there was a 'connection error' screen which I now realise means I can't have logged off. Anyway that error is what saved my ship....

Today, I collected AMFU refills to repair the main ship modules and they are now all fine. Then get the ingredients for premium refills so I could try fixing the life support a bit. Turns out it wasn't necessary as when I did so the emergency oxygen had magically reset itself to the full 7m30s. I feel a little dirty for taking advantage of that, but I can live with it as it's a bit nonsensical that the reserves don't get refilled automatically. Now I think of it, I seem to remember seeing someone previously reporting that they had found that the reserves were refilled after they had dismissed & recalled their ship from the SRV so I guess that's what happened here.

Anyway, all is good. AFMU is at 2% and I've not bothered repairing weapons, etc yet. If the AFMU should get destroyed I can always reboot/repair to get it going again.

Onward to BP!

Contacting support feels like failure to me. We're explorers, deliberately putting ourselves many thousands of LYs from safety. Things go wrong and it's up to us to recover from them, not expect some god like power to protect us. I'll wait until tomorrow morning before trying to log on again, but if nothing anyone suggest can help and Allitnil ends up dying then he'll be consigned to one of the countless escape pods that litter the galaxy...

Well said!
