My Steam does not update the game.
Should I post a thread here? Write a bug report? Ragequit and demand a refund?

F5f5f5f5f5 :D

Do what I did. Shut down Steam. Wait a few seconds. Re-start Steam.
It'll be queued and ready for download.

BTW, I'm on DSL. Looks like about 14 hours for me.
Guess it's time to go rake leaves or something.

It usually has 4-6 hours of constant disconnects/authentication server errors. I suggest skipping the next few hours and save yourself the frustration.

Oh, and dont fly anything you'd rather not lose (crew member!). :)

I'm gonna give it PLENTY of time before I go in and fly. Like maybe tomorrow sometime. Might go fly a WWI fighter and see how many more times I can loop it into the ground. Can't seem to get past that part.

Launched game, pottered about in my (yes mine.. ALL MINE [yesnod] Muahahahah!!) twin ELW system, mapped essentials and got server bounce when I tried to leave the system.

Next is a planetary nebula "nearby" :O

Once the servers have calmed down a bit :D

It's worse than what you thought. After you honk the system, the system map stays entirely hidden. No layout, not even grey blobs, just nothing. You have to play the turret minigame and scan everything if you want to determine if a system might be interesting and thus, worth scanning.
Unless you're in it just for the credits, of course.

if thats true, thats stupid as bloody hell. That means when something worthwhile such as new thargoid sites or guardian locations is discovered you have to fully scan an otherwise useless system to determine which planet to even go to? Who the hell came up with that level of bad design?

Guess you didn't get chance to try the beta then? Try it, you may even like it, rather than going by another's criticism :)
