Hiding staff buildings vertically

Hi guys,

first of all, I wish to say that I love this game and have already spent hours on building the perfect zoo.

That said, hiding staff buildings from nosy guests is a pain. It appears this only works horizontally. Why not vertically? When I store all the staff buildings underneath an elevated pathway and surround them with trees etc., they should clearly be out of sight for anyone but the most observant visitors. As it is, however, I get a 90 % complaint rate this way. Is this something you are planning to address with future updates?

Once again, great game: fun, imaginative and even educational. :)

While I would certainly like the staff buildings to be handled differently (I prefer line of sight theming not area of effect), I find it curious to hear you say that you are having such a problem with the effects. Avoiding the negative impact is iI've found really simple and just needs a little but of planning.

There is a ring around each building. So, no matter what you put to block the view, the circle is still there. Any guest who enters that circle, will suffer the effect. (In any direction 4d)
The best way I have found is to place all my staff buildings, minus the staff rest area, in the middle of about 4 enclosures. This way vets, mechs, and keepers are close to their job, and the buildings are out of the way. The only other negative building you have to look out for then, is the staff rest buildings, which you would need close to shops. (Which, can be placed just out of range of guests, and still be close to the shops for venders/janitors)

Yes, I find it easy when planning horizontally. Trying to remain compact, though, rather than stretching out seems way more challenging.

Perhaps there is a way, and I have yet to discover it. Alternatively, I could, as Silhouette does, just ignore the peasants and their complaints. ;)

It could be a sphere, a circle or any kind of energy field, as long as it applies vertically as well as horizontally (although I can't judge the level of difficulty resulting from such an addition, of course.)

Vertical construction logic seems imperfect in other ways, as well: When elevating the pathway and allowing guests to overlook the habitats, they complain about the view (although the distance from the animals is the same as in horizontal construction; it's just a different, often better viewing angle).

I would be happy if they change it. I have Tunnels under the normal Paths so the Staff-Members can faster go to the Enclosures but the Guests complain about the Buildings that are next to the Staff-Path even if it is completely underground

The radius is a sphere, not a circle. The radius seems to be just over 8m so maybe 10m or so?(at least for something like a staff room) You would need to put something down or up at least that high in order to "hide" it from the guests. I tested this on one of the scenario maps where space was limited =p You can click to build your building, go into the heat maps (H) =< Negative affect on guests, then you can raise or lower the object over a path or ground and you will see the radius reduce to a point, then vanish.

Hiding staff buildings is literally the worst and most annoying part of this game for me, it would be much better if it were a line of sight thing, that way you could build around them or pop some trees up and bam. As it is the staff buildings end up being out of the way and then staff complain they have to walk too far. At the moment I’m just ignoring the complaints, guests can deal with it or get out 😂 I do hope it’s something they change in future though, either line of sight or if you build around it and decorate it enough.

I run a long path right behind all the enclosures, with gates at the back of each enclosure . on this path I put all the staff buildings and utilities. keepers can access huts and enclosures easier and guests never see the buildings.

I felt that this kinda restricts you to a very ‘grid’ up and down layout, I’d like to have windy paths and different shaped enclosures and spaces, and have habitats spread out and kinda all over the place, hiding the staff buildings then while keeping them close to habitats becomes the main mission and takes away from all the other fun parts of the game because all the focus is on finding somewhere for them to go.

I am working with this build at the moment. It had a very slow start, and at first the visitors turned around, because of the long walk. I am still building on a way to make them happy on their ways to the center.

Personal preference - I put my shelters against the front wall - You can let the guests look in when they sleep. If they sleep a lot with where they are the guest will get bored but against the front fence they can still watch them

My bongos are very skittish. Sometimes I have to move them away from the windows or they will send a distress call to the protesters.

Build all your staff facilities in the center of an imaginary circle, surrounded by habitats and shops. Do all mechanic research. Delete the workshop. One ugly building less.
If your immunity genes are OK, and your habitats are clean, and you've done all diseases research, you do not need the second quarantine center. You do not need the second trade center. You maybe need the second vet clinic, if your zoo is filling an entire map. But if not, one vet clinic is OK. Train your vets and caretakers to the max, they will run like crazy. If you are not planning to add the new species to the zoo, delete the vet research center. Before doing that, research everything. Fully trained vets research like crazy. The second ugly building less. So when you expanding the zoo, you will need only plopping keeper huts and staff restrooms. One of each to 1-6 enclosures, depending on size. Water facility and power also. Replace old power facilities to wind turbines and you will have twice less ugly buildings. That's it.

I find it easiest to stack the staff facilities on top of each other, PaulsLey's STACKING FACILITIES TUTORIAL on YouTube taught me how.
