I agree with completing the bear roster, but I disagree that canids don't have their own niches. My view is that we’re so close to completing the bear roster, and unlike dogs or something every bear has its own little niche and purpose for existing. I’m rooting for all of them to make the roster!
There's still several canid-type we don't have (Bolded and colored in red):
Here's my somewhat un-scientific way of dividing the canid types:
-Wolves (Complete, although another species of wolf like the Ethiopian Wolf would be appreciated, we do have atleast one wolf.)
-Coyotes and Jackals (Incomplete. No coyote or jackals in the game.)
-Dingoes and Dogs (Complete. Domestic dogs would not be likely to make it into the game and New Guinea Singing Dogs as much as I'd like them in the game, look very similiar to dingoes.)
-Wolf/Dog-like but not closely related to true wolves (Complete. Maned Wolf, African Wild Dog, and Dhole are all already in the game.)
-True Foxes ( Complete. Although I'd love to see the Gray Fox or Island Fox make it into the game or the Tibetan Fox make it into the next expansion, I think we're pretty good with foxes having the Arctic Fox, Red Fox, and Fennec Fox already in the game.)
-Fox-like Canids ( Incomplete. This would include the South American canids known as zorros or foxes that are actually more closely related to wolves than true foxes. Some examples include culpeo aka Andean Fox, Crab-eating fox/zorro, Darwin's Fox, etc. We have none of these little guys in the game.)
-"Odd Ball" Canids ( Incomplete. Raccoon Dog, Bush Dog, and Short-eared Dog. Here's where I put the 3 species that don't really look like neither a dog or a fox, although since the Short-eared Dog goes sometimes by the named Short-eared Zorro, it could've also gone in the fox-like canids section. It doesn't look much like a fox though and is in a different genus than the one most of the other fox-like South American canids are in. )
