Hired Crew Pay Scale needs Adjusting

If I understand this correctly, currently the way hired npc crew members work is they get paid a percentage profit of all your income, if they are active or not.

This current pay system seems a bit high to me, especially when you are flying one of your other ships without SLFs and they are in inactive status but still getting paid.

Seems like it would be more reasonable to pay them a set weekly flat salary and then maybe only give them profit sharing on missions they are actually active on. I can even understand them getting profit from missions while inactive, but getting profits from pure trade or exploration data seems a bit much when they are inactive.

In the current system you can have crew members that are multimillionaires basically chilling in the crew lounge all day doing nothing.

And I understand I can fire them before turning in or selling stuff, but that kind of negates the progress of leveling them up.

I hired them to be salaried employees/contractors/mercenaries not to be stakeholders/partners in my company.

I was actually going to do another test and record it before I posted but YES!
OP is correct,
1. They get paid if they are in your ship, OR sitting at home drinking tea. NOT GOOD
2. They don't get a share of the bounty if they are in a fighter and kill a guy, they get a share of your trade run, if they are in your ship, or at home.
3. I actually noticed that they TAKE MORE!
I mean they steal, I am saying he says 4% share.... then he took 40%......
I mean, I have basic math skills so lets try to do this together okay?
I made 10,000,000 in kill missions, + 1,000,000 in bounties.... that means 11,000,000 total profit.... now x.04 is 4% as a decimal... (100% = 1.00 //// 80%=0.8 //// 4%=0.04) now 11,000,000 x 0.04 = 440,000! now plus his 30,000 hire signing fee. He should be paid a total of 470,000.... I click on him, he is paid 4,203,547.... that is 4 million of my credits!?

I'm just saying its theoretically possible if you hired three experts at 12-percent they will be soaking up 36-percent of your income while inactive. Thats a bit steep.

You can reduce the pay out by leaving lower ranked guys up but they still are doing major sponging which is fine if they are actually on the ship working but not cool if they are just on standby.

I mean, I have a lawyer that I pay a retainer thats a flat fee but he doesnt take 10-percent of my total income just on GP. He only gets paid when he's actually working.

This is just a bug, they don't get reaply 10 times more than said. Look at your income when trading and you see, they get really just the correct amount.

I'd keep the current rates if I could tell them to hop in my courier and be a wingmate.

Or set them in/active from within the ship. I've had a few times now where I'll log out in space and come back only to find my NPC hire has been set to inactive (usually at the worst possible moment).

I agree that the wages they receive now are absurd. When you go out exploring it is more or less idiocy if you don't fire them all.
