Hitching/ Micro Stutter Problems

So I probably should have mentioned this before. I suppose I've just gotten used to it but is anyone else finding the game frequently hitches? What I'm refering to are small stalls where the game appears to freeze for up to second or two.

This always happens during hyperspace jump to varying degrees, is a problem almost every time I zone into an engineer base and often happens after zoning into a station area.

I'm guessing this is due to the game accessing the disc but its starting to drive me nuts.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas on how to resolve it?

I'd turn hyperthreading off and add your Elite folder to your antivirus exclusion list and turn remote file sample inspection off.

I think its the Servers settling down but I also noticed I get better FPS if I select all the highest settings instead of Medium or High. e.g. High Bloom adds 5fps. The only one set one lower is the Planet SuperSampling. I also run DSR x2 but no SuperSampling - I get mostly 60 but 45 at Stations and RES.

I was experiencing it before changing out my video card. Like you, I suspected disc access as the culprit more than actual GPU speed.

Is E:D claiming more vram than you actually have? For me it was at 4-5GB on quite low settings, which didn't play nicely with my 2GB cards. Presumably you could resolve the issue by lowering vram-hungry settings if you're not too far over.

I am seeing this as well. It is not massive, but it hits me in the exact same places as OP mentioned. This did not happen yesterday and I have little to think that it is something wrong with my rig, when everything else is just fine. When it isn't happening, everything in the game is as smooth as it was before.

Same problem. FPS doesn't drop bellow 50, but there are little freezes during first seconds after jump and when approaching to а station.

also got stuttering around when going to a station, or a ring. its only when loading in stuff i think.

turned down the shadows from ultra to high, and it solved it a bit for me.

Hyperspace exits are now excellent. Some Stars zoom lightening fast whilst others are slower but all very smooth and no crashes.
The stutters are widely reported to be exiting to Stations and from Orbital Cruise to Bases.
Max up most your settings to actually improve FPS but even on XBOX they have the same stutters.
As it hasn't seemed to improve as servers have settled it therefore shows an issue with coding/leaking.

Yea I'm seeing this in 2.2; 100fps everywhere with microstutters dropping out of supercruise to stations consistently with the odd stutter elsewhere. I'll try adding ED to my AV exclusion list.

So I thought I'd post an update here. After putting the ED folder on the windows defender exclusion list the terrible hitching I was experienced has largely stopped. I still get a few little ones here and there but far, far better. I hope I haven't just jinxed it

Ah cool. I'm getting the stutter every now and again, so I shall try this.

Just tried turning windows defender off entirely, didn't really affect anything that I noticed

I get the hiccup type stutter in transition areas since 2.2. No crazy graphic settings, 2 ssd in raid 0, quad core at 4.6Ghz. Seems like lack of optimization in game code but who knows.

If you have GeForce Experience running (even in the icon area on the TaskBar) you might try closing it (or at least turn off Instant Replay).

This has reduced the stuttering I was seeing.

When Instant Replay is enabled, the graphics driver is always recording video [woah], so you can play back the last 5 minutes. That's an unnecessary speed hit, especially when you have a lower-powered card (or are in 4K resolution, like I was). I'm not even using the Instant Replay feature, so there's no reason to have it enabled.

Playing at 4K through 2.0 supersampling eliminated the microstutter for me but caused really severe hitching on entering an instance.

Playing at 2K (native resolution!) eliminates hitching but there is noticeable microstutter.
