Hole year simulated?

Huh? That is so...unrealistic. I was hoping the weather would depend on the biome in which the map is located. For example in the tempered map, December would mean snow and in July it would be mostly hot, and in savanah, there would be mostly sun with occasional rain, while in rainforest, there would be more common storms etc. and not only when we choose it.

The way this has gone before is that the weather etc is controlled by fdev. The community then decides this is wrong, and that obviously they should have control over the exact weather conditions. Then fdev add that in and things calm down.

So this time fdev started off with you being able to control the weather, set it how you want, make the weather match the biome, or not - or set it randomly if you like - and then ... people ask for the opposite :)

Sure control the weater all you want, in sandbox. However it does not make sense in any other mode, where it is supposed to be a simulation... I understand it is still a game, however controlling weather? That is not realistic at all. And in my opinion takes away alot of immersion of choosing a map biome.

I guess weather has an influence on performance.
I wouldn't want to be playing a map where it is raining constantly and my pc runs like a slideshow, I'd rather disable it at that moment.

Be wary of not asking too much. Every thing added has a impact on performance and speed.

If there would be an option, as you said, to set the weather to random at the start of a new game (and it would still depend on the map biome) and then we would not have to worry about it for the rest of the game, then it would please both sides. However, if there are for example no storms unless you set it to rain, that would really take away immersion of the map biome.

Yes, but in real zoo life you have your zoo in one map biome. And the weather shut there simulated like the weather is there. And you can place heater, cooler or something else for the wellfare of your animals.
I think the performence is a good question. But it must not be raining all the time in a rainforest biome.
(sorry for my bad english)

If it is not raining, I'm not immersed?
That sounds weird.

Set the weather to rain, and your instantly immersed.

Either way, if there is a random function (which we both prefer). Perfect. If not. Fine as well for me.

So, is there a random function Bo?

So I always have to choose if I want it to rain, then choose to set it back to sunny? ... sounds fun... not. The fun part about weather in games is that it is unpredictable.
How should I be immersed if I am in a RAIN forest and it never rains unless i choose to? It should be random, because it is simulation.

How about a button to set the weather to random, so we can have random storms in a rainforest. Not that hard to do.

Yeah, that is what I said 2 times already.

It's just the immersion comment that sounds silly in my ears IMHO.

I work in a zoo as a keeper and we have always the problem with the changing weather and so we must react on this. It a challenge!

Lol. starting a private conversation with yourself?

If it is more immersive for you that in simulation, you have to manually choose if you want it to rain instead of having random storms depending on biome then I do not know what to tell you.

Lets just agree to disagree I guess. :)

I didn't mean to insult (y) And I understand you aren't :)

It is indeed a different view of the things.

In the streams from gamescom (all sandbox) it is definitely clear that there are buttons for 'no weather' e.g. sunny, 'random / variable', raining and snowing so you can swtich it so it changes. The temperature definitely differs from biome to biome, no idea if this prevents it snowing completely but if it snows in a hot biome it definitely doesn't settle.

I'd go have a good read of the developer journal on weather in the news forum for more detail or have a look at Rudi's video on youtube about his experience of playing with the weather system in game. (other youtubers may also have covered in detail as well)
