It means the Holiday Season - an American term that means around the time of Thanksgiving through to Christmas. I'm guessing it was just a useful way of giving a rough timeframe without nailing it down to any specific date.

I must admit I personally would prefer we had British terms as it is an English company.

Horizons is Series 2 and coming some time in December 2015 would do it for me. Not only is it more representative of the company, it actually makes more sense as is objectively a more accurate term.

At least it is not coming in the "Fall" ;) (although an Autumn release for the beta could well be a possibility)

Do not get me wrong, I am not Anti American or anything, I just do not see the need to drop the native language of the games origins. ;)

You've got it spot on mate.

I have no problem with the use of holiday season as a broad stroke time frame, but I don't care for the use of "Season" to earmark an expansion as it sounds like a separation, I would prefer the use of "Chapter" as to me at least it would be more universally seen as a part of the same whole.

Good show old chap. Dam colonials with there new fangled way of talking, how dare they be so arrogant as to think the Queens own language should be changed just to suit their rebellious ways!

P.S. Where is our dam tea!

I don't know why the people at FD went for "seasons" n "holidays". They used to be a British company or so i was lead to believe. Pathetic attempt to be trendy i suppose. Fail.

Because not everyone celebrates Christmas, but most still have holidays around that time.

I have too smile at the examples above. Due out in the 'holidays' is a way of NOT committing to any date. Lets be honest, if they had a date in mind, they would give it. The 'holidays' as they put it, could be started in November, or December and maybe even later. A very subtle way of saying, 'we are not sure when, but let us make a 'positive' statement and say, holiday as it sounds very positive.

Since I was on holiday on Friday last week and Horizons failed to materialise as clearly promised, I feel so hard done by that FD blatantly lied to me. I really think I should start a rant thread about this. ;)

I'd say we need several but all with slightly different titles so the mods do not merge them! :D

In the Year of the Sheep. In between Chongyang and Laba.
How many Chinese players are there? Not in China that is.
I found the term 'Holiday 2015', as a Brit, totally confusing.
It's self evident that Frontier does lack communication skills.
Saying December 2015 is clearer to all.

"Holiday season" is a horrible Americanism that has absolutely no meaning on this side of the pond as we have no reason to celebrate the meeting of a bunch of colonists with a bunch of native people.

If anything over here "Holiday season" is schools summer holidays.

So come on FD why isn't Horizons out already as you are a UK company and in the UK it is already "holiday season"? ;)

Holi day is an Indian celebration. Expect release around march!

I had typed up a response to the utter ignorance being shown in this thread, but decided it's not worth it.

Instead you just chose to insult about a dozen people without foundation, next time if you feel something is 'not worth it', stick to that ideal and don't post maybe?

Couple of points:
1. Do not like being called a Yank anymore than you like being called a Limey - Frog - Krout - or another derogatory name you can think of.
2. We are no longer Colonies any more then England is part of Germany - your welcome.

Edit: sorry had a bit of an over reaction - try not to take anything I said to heart and I will do the same for you.
