I know the hollow squares are other CMDRs but what about triangles, I was fighting a wanted NPC and 2 hollow triangles gang up on me and took me down to 30% shields

Ok, so that makes open play session #2 where I'm attacked for no reason by other CMDRs, I'm done with open now, this is getting out of hand being attacked for no reason
Join the Mobius PVE group, you will still see people around to interact with but PVP is banned unless by consent.
I joined the Mobius facebook page a couple days ago, so now what?
I just saw my first hollow square since I went out into the boonies. It's been at least 10 days or more. Just to be safe, I went evasive.
Choose Friends and Group play from the main menu, click groups tab and search for Mobius. Ignore any other iterations of Mobius. It'll send a request which should be accepted after a few hours or a day. Next time you go to play, you can then click start and instead of Solo or Open, select Private Group and choose Mobius which should now show once you're request has been accepted.
I've just joined myself, although will still use open and solo as well.
Or like Whiterose said, move away from the starter system likeLHS3447 (most common starter system) and busy neighbours like Eravate. Whilst they have familiar trading routes, etc, it's better to head away from those areas if you want less human interaction and in particular from troublesome CMDR's who are just out to shoot people for half an hour for no gain. These people probably haven't had the time, money or desire to go further away. Plus they will lose their volume of easy new human targets.
I'd been hanging around these systems but just started making my move away in my eagle and left my Sidewinder in Dalton Gateway as I may go back there one day and the Nav Beacon in LHS3447 is abundant with wanted ships.

To clarify:
The correct group is "MOBIUS" without a full stop after the S, that one (with the stop: "MOBIUS.") is a fake and all others that come with the search are some other players' groups.
