Holo-Me Cosmetics Long Overdue

While variations in body types and height may be challenging to implement effectively, I believe that introducing new cosmetic options—such as hairstyles, facial implants, face paint, eye designs, and homeworld-based skin tones—would be both feasible and worthwhile. These additions could be periodically made available in the store, providing greater customization for Commanders. Since the introduction of Holo-Me, there has been a noticeable lack of new customization options, and expanding these choices would enhance player immersion and personalization.

FDev doesn't add variety at all.

That's why we all have the same body shape.

That's why we all have the same ship controls.

That's why we all have the same concourses.

That's why we have every bartender in the galaxy as a crook.

That's why we all have 30x the same NPC sleeping animation in stations.

That's why it's the top 1% of liners out there. (or maybe Fdev's variety is 1%!)

That's why it's gonna boil you up, greenhorn.

I have some cosmetics like face paint / war paint, but they're not available in the store. I don't recall if there are a lot of holo-me cosmetics similarly not in the store, but I'm pretty sure there were cosmetics I didn't get, and the only things currently in the store are a couple of eyeglasses

I think there were also jewelry options etc, but I've played so many games over the years with avatar-editors that I can't be sure that was Elite

Above mentioned cosmetics and customizations are all part of Odyssey and sadly, Oddy seems to be a bit forgotten by FDev. I am very thankful about the many fixes which Oddy received but it is somewhat time to expand it (I regard all the Colonisation and Vanguard stuff being part of Horizons).

+1, although having 'facial implants' be literally the second idea on your list goes way harder than it needed to 😂

There are tattoos/warpaints but they've been removed from sale during the price increase. FDEV doesn't want your money?
There are no jewelry options, but there are two types of glasses, oddly just 20 arx each.

I'm disappointed that the only available cybernetic enhancements are limited to the eyes—I was hoping for more. By facial implants, I was referring to cyberpunk-style technology integrated into visible areas of a Commander's body, specifically the face and neck.

Suggestions:
  • More artificial/enhanced eye variation.
  • More glasses and eye safety wear for harsh conditions (hot, cold, noxious gases, very bright, very dim).
  • Tattoos (add more variety)
  • More hair variety (both sexes) preferably customizable.
  • Stickers / emblems for our suits that are more that just the three superpowers and powers. Perhaps government types, religious for starcults, anarchists, cooperatives, military insignia for dictatorship, science related for scientists, etc.

The current uniform profile picture for all players limits individuality and makes everyone appear identical. While the Horizons suit provides a workaround to revert to the pre-Odyssey appearance, customization remains minimal. To enhance personalization, there should be expanded options for hairstyles, jewelry, and technological implants, as well as more diverse eye colors, augmented or mechanical designs, and a broader range of skin tones and complexions, including vitiligo, scars, and freckles. Additionally, introducing a customizable profile picture would further distinguish players and allow for greater self-expression. Implementing these changes would significantly improve character customization, fostering a more diverse and immersive experience.
