Holo Me - customizable for hours, but no ability to save presets?

As the title says..

...I find it odd that they gave us this character creation tool, which they themselves state how you can spend hours customizing your avatar....but then not give us any extra slots to save presets...not even two or three or something?

I have no interest in recreating my ugly mug and leaving it there...What I want to do is make famous faces and swap between them as I feel like it. Seems like a missed opportunity, the omission of this option.

FDEV - can we please have some slots to save our Holo Me creations? I think 5-10 would be fine.

Does anyone know of a "hack" way to save Holo Me settings? Some .cfg some where I can copy and paste maybe?

Agreed. Best you can do right now is to take a bunch of screenshots of all the customisation options and sliders, but that's not ideal.

Kinda tells you how much time you're actually expected to spend on it. Yay for content.

Not really. Most games that allow you to create a character don`t give you presets and that`s all the good ones like Skyrim, FO4, New Vegas. Sure, you can maybe make saves of the game and perhaps get a previous face that way, but you are always expected to make one and stick with it or do a new one.

Make a note of the numbers. I myself spend time and get good and know what i want. i don`t flip around a dozen faces.

I'm glad somebody else has thought of this, I've posted exactly the same observation and request for saveable presets at least twice on these forums in the last week or so and no-one seemed to notice so yes please. It seems a sensible idea. +1 rep from me.

But that is obviously not the case in this game, therefore the request for presets is valid, for ship-loadouts as well, btw.

We asked for it. We asked for it again. They said . . . Nothing. And they did . . . Nothing. Never mind having dedicated save slots - they don't even give you a way to export/import the slider settings. Holo-me is DOA as far as I'm concerned. Haven't bothered making a face for my character and I don't plan to do so until I can somehow save that setting. Devs sure know how to shoot themselves in the foot with their unwillingness to do that last 10% of work. Oh well I guess they DONT want to sell character customizations in the cash shop after all.

I'd love to have some holome save slots as well. With the option available I'm inclined to monkey around with my avatar's appearance and it would be nice to have a more convenient way to restore my original settings than screenshots of the sliders.

Even just having one preset would be nice but I don't think it's the norm. What I'd really like is crew that could be customized and seen on the bridge. Why are there never any good pirate looking crew portraits? I want a crew member so damn ugly people just give me cargo to fix their face. #GoFundMePirateFace

But it is the case. You have one game, one profile. You can`t have two. There are no two saves. To have two you have to buy another version of Elite. So it makes complete sense that you can only make one Character at a time.

Except.....unlike most other games, you can change your face on the fly. The request from OP is entirely reasonable given the context.

Agree or disagree.....it feels like a missed opportunity (just like almost every other "feature" in ED)

I'm not sure why you would be opposed to this option, just doing the ol' Devils advocate thing perhaps?

It's just a nice QOL option to help players enjoy and get the most from one of the features FD have added to the game.

Can't see any reason for a player to disagree with it or not to want it in the game. Look at it this way...if they do add the ability for players to have multiple preset slots for Holo-Me, in what way would that negatively impact your game? Personally, I can't really think of any.

In an ideal world there would be an XML file dump/load option so people can do what they want.

Worse can just dump/load compressed/encrypted data specifying all the definitiions for a case.

We suggested/asked this in beta all the time with no response. +1 for character face save slot.

They may as well just rename Beta to 'Early Access', because they don't give a damn about beta testing. So many bugs reported throughout the beta by others and myself, and the same bugs are pushed out to release.

Unacceptable.

It's never been beta, it was always just mean't as demo for kickstarter backers to see how the game is developing. But when the game got realeased some of those that hadn't backed in kickstarter demanded early access as well. Why not sell something that people are demanding? Wouldn't you?
Add to that the amount of bugs found, dev time and that new hollywood project that frontier have acquired, which will be on a very tight schedule.

I was and remain more hyped about HoloMe than any other Horizons feature, and I'm happy with the performance of the tool. I spent several hours tuning my image. Presumably, however, additional content is likely to be added to the tool, and when they are, I'll probably want to try some of it. It would be nice to have an option to "revert" if I decide after some time that I don't like the change. Further, I had my game crash while I was working on my look and I had to rebuild a lot of it; a risk which could be mitigated by an easy-to-use save feature. The option to have multiple faces to switch between would be nice, but I don't believe it's the only reason that a save feature would be valuable.

I think it would be funny if the changes people make degraded slowly back to a preset.
Makes as much sense as losing rep with a major faction due inactivity, but more entertaining.
