Holy VRAM batman!!!

I have a new one, for me at least (in addition to the 30 second freezes),

I enter a starport/settlement, attempt to go to the commodities screen, get Black Screen of Death with "Failed to connect to transaction Server", click reconnect, and I'm 10 Klicks OUTSIDE the starport.

A tad unsettling, Devs.

And what of the people who don't have 11GB of VRAM?
Just because is uses 11GB VRAM doesn't mean it needs the memory in order to run smoothly. The more recent Call of Duty games do that, too, in order to reduce load by streaming textures and assets.

After spending the last two years exclusively in VR playing ED I must say that ED was the best VR experience and game out there.
After 1500 hours I experienced no problems with FPS or game visuals and was always blown away by how beautiful and great the game was in VR.
So, then you, for some reason, haven't noticed the network related performance bugs, that caused at least 30% performance hit?! One was only noticeable in SC with many players in an instance. The other one was happening even with two players in a REZ.

1) Has-Res was fluid with no noticeable drop in FPS, after update I am getting a FPS of 45 that makes visuals distorted and blurry. Other ships id tag will ghost across the screen as you move your ship
2) I have many hours running around Dav’s Hope before the update in VR without any FPS drop off now after update I am getting 45 FPS, everything just gets blurry when driving around Dave’s Hope now it’s almost unplayable.
Though the games seems more demanding as of 3.3, SteamVR introduced a new feature called "motion smoothing", which extrapolates frames to maintain 90 FPS. The extrapolation can cause visual artefacts. Also on of the later SteamVR updates cause massive performance issues for some people.

I am seeing Ghosting and blurring because my FPS is at 45, Dav'e Hope is really bad.

Before update,VR was fantastic everywhere in Elite Dangerous no noticeable ghosting and blurring just a Most Beautiful Universe.

Anybody know what 45 frames per second looks like 1/2 inch from your face.... not good

I hope Frontier can find a fix for us users of VR

Try Steam VR BETA.

The release version of SteamVR has been unusably broken for months (ED is was ok, but project cars was unplayable without disabling async reprojection... which causes double-vision / bluring the same as any steamvr version in linux vr with ED)
It sounds like maybe they released another broken version? I've been using the beta steamvr for months now, way better and no issues in ED at 45fps.

I did get the 10sec freeze in ED today though... while in VR... very annoying. It very well could be related to VRAM. I never had freezes with my GTX970 (4G), but with RTX2070 (8G) I get them... could also be the new drivers I have to use for the new card. I swapped back my GTX970 on the same drivers and did not notice any freezes. Not sure if that means anything, or if it just didn't happen when I had swapped that card back in (lucky).
