Horizon holdouts need the new Python MK2 availability to be made perfectly clear

Try looking at it this way; FDEV could have prevented Horizons users from access to the Python Mk2 altogether and made it Odyssey exclusive, as I gather they have done with ships and DLC's in the past (before my time), but instead Horizons users can get the ship for roughly the same real world money as buying Odyssey. It's not great for us as players, but at the end of the day, they are a business, they are trying to make money.

They are trying to encourage players, without forcing anyone, into getting Odyssey; they want to consolidate the game universe. It has got to be easier and cheaper for them if everyone is running the same game. If you don't want Odyssey on principal, fair enough, but if you don't want Odyssey because it doesn't offer you anything ... well, now it does. And it's likely not the only ship they will release this way so if you plan on getting any of the new ships, it will be cheaper too. You can get Odyssey, access to the Python Mk2 and whatever other ships come along and just ignore all the onfoot gameplay.

You're 4.0 Horizons Live users, so you get everything in Live that isn't an Odyssey exclusive, so neither of those.

To extend the table from upthread a bit - names in "quotes" are how Frontier generally refers to them in their own communications

That people need to post a table of who gets what just goes to show what a mess FRONTIER have made and how poorly communicated it is. No wonder we can't agree on anything.

Back in the day when I only had the base game and the game store was only on micro transactions for console users it would have been a welcome option to be able to get some of the Horizons access only ships.

If the new ships could be had collectively for less than the expansion, sure. If it ends up being near the same or more and you can chose Horizons live or Odyssey to boot then there's no reason other than the head start to buy them individually.

The expansion is 15 USD on steam and the Arx cost $13 USD for the PM2 alone. If the expansion also covers the remaining upcoming ships the peacemeal option just looks really bad comparatively.

I'm not going to pay $20 bucks for an expansion just to ignore 99% of it to mess around with the remaining 1%. I pay for something I expect ALL OF IT to be usable and fun.

Odyssey isn't this and Frontier has repeatedly failed for years to change this.

Then dont, it's simple as that
True, but I shouldn't have to pay real money for ships that can be bought with in-game credits. Horizons and Odyssey are almost the same game. The only difference is that I can't teleport out of my ship for the ARMSTRONG MOMENT onto stations, carriers, and planets. That is it.

Barely any difference since I can actually exit my ship via expedition vehicle.

Well, i get it that you dont want to pay for new features. But that also means you dont get new features.

Exactly what new features are you even talking about? There was nothing of note added with Odyssey that wasn't borked on arrival, barely works now, wasn't added, and hasn't been improved nor expanded upon. No new missions series (quests) or stories or people to care about. Just the same thing from space, but now on foot.

Everything Odyssey has which is not included in the base game. This includes whatever ships they will release
However, if you really hate Odyssey and dont want to pay for it, you can still pay for the ships - one by one.

The cake is not free.

I feel either your expectations are too high or mine are too low.

I have bought all three versions of ED and all of them have had stuff in them I couldn’t use, however they have all provided me with enough fun to not be bothered about the other stuff.

Even if you dislike and plan to ignore all on foot features, which is perfectly understandable, it is a no-brainer to get Odyssey anyway if you are on Horizons 4.0 and want the new ships. The combined ARX cost for all 4 ships will certainly exceed the price of Odyssey, especially when it's temporarily discounted. And then you buy the new ships for credits - after the 3 months ARX eclusivity wait.

You continuously avoid stating what features I missing out on which weakens whatever argument you make.

In addition to that you sound like a mouthpiece for Frontier, advocating for whatever predatory practice they decide to do.

Frontier is going to need to have a sale that lowers the price of Odyssey to $5 as that is what the "expansion" is currently worth to me due to the lack of, well, expansion they have done with it.

New ships
Tenuous atmospheric planets
On foot content - exobiology, settlements and missions, on-foot engineering
And some others

If nothing is of interest for you, they dont pay for it
if some is of interest, and you dont have it in the base game, then you have to pay for it
