There's no steam edition, you will simply update through the launcher if you want to play the beta or through steam later on when it's released.

Actually you download from your account page on the frontier store... Screen shot from support page...

I have a burning question that I either missed the answer to OR did not get answered.

David had said that it was a good idea to start a new from new ground positions and I have seen many people even get excited to start anew. I have either misunderstood this or don't get it. I have worked too hard and put over a month of hours of solid solid trading (and i mean over 800 hours of playtime) to get my credits and ships. If I have to start anew I will probably quit this game. CAN ANYONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME IF I CAN TRANSFER MY CREDITS AND SHIPS ONCE HORIZONS COMES OUT? can anyone also explain to me why is anyone excited to start anew? Simply not my cup of tea. Thanks for advance for any replies.

Basically, nobody will lose any progress, they simply want people (optionally, you don't have to!) to test the new start position in Beta. Once the build goes live anyone that choose to start new will be back with all their credits as before beta.

It would absolutely crazy for them to wipe anybodies progress, they would probably lose half or more of their customer base. It's not going to happen.

Yes: You do not need to do anything. You just continue to play Season 2 with your same credits, ships and location.

DB said that he was hoping that IN THE BETA testers would reset their saves, as there is some "New user content" that needs to be tested.

Everything that happens in beta (starting from a clone of your account several weeks ago) STAYS IN BETA. When Horizons goes live on the main servers, your account isn't going to change. Ships, rank, rep, credits will all be there, just as they were the day before. (ObPedant: Not counting minor changes, like the fact that your ships will likely suddenly have a slot appear for the Planetary Landing Suite.)

The main question I have, is that if I reset my save in Beta, do I start over with a Sidewinder and 1000 credits? Because nope. Sidewinder, 10,000,000 credits, and 10% cost on ships and modules? Lemme push da button!

Or maybe you can just start with the SRV and work your way up to a Sidewinder?

1. The delay is fine. It`s just a beta
2. The delay for the full release is also better than lounching a bare bones unfinished product like you did last year because after that there is no coming back with certain things... I`m sure you will lounch it on christmass no matter what though...
3. I really appreciate the honesty and general improvement in communication

4. The saddest and the most important thing is the lack of seamless planetary landings (its such a huuuge step backwards) but i suspected as much as i don`t expect Fe2 quality from this game anymore... super cruise loading screen is the single worst thing about this game. I`m sorry but it`s pathetically bad and breaks my immersion every time... I think its even worse than a loading screen,a cutscene, or even than the dumb X3 space highways... its just awful. When it happens to load longer than usuall i often just rage quit and go back to playing the far superior prequels... the effect itself is like from some bargain bin 3$ game, the lame shaking, the cheap tunnel effect, disappearing hud, disappearing planets... just D tier stuff... so much for allways online not affecting my enjoyment

Other than point 4 all is good. I can even live with the rather low end graphics on the surface, as it is not needed for the upcoming gameplay (I expect improvements when we will be able to do EVA and get to atmo planets).

yep, when 2.0 goes live, your Beta progress gets scrubbed and you go back to where you were in 1.4. Beta is on a different server/database thingy, so, as the saying goes, what happens in beta, stays in beta...

btw I just want to say thanks to FD for adding more paint packs too. I was literally saying in a thread this week how much i would really like to buy a military pack for the DBE and now I have one :D

I am so hoping that they squish the bugs quicker than they thought and surprise us but getting it out on friday :D Love to have the weekend to play on planets. Oh how I dream :D

I think it would be cool if people who don't have access to the 1.5 beta but bought the 2.0 beta could get access to the 1.5 beta to hold them till Monday! :D

Other than that keep up the hard work and good luck with getting the beta out Monday!

Hi Christian,

Thanks for getting in touch in regards to your question. This is no problem at all.

I have refunded your pre-order so you can use the money to buy the expansion with Beta access instead. Please note that it can take up to 8 working days for the money to reach your account. Usually it is much faster though. The money will be refunded to the account it was paid from. With PayPal transactions, this can be the PayPal account.

Please be aware that unfortunately, the Horizons beta will be arriving a little late. It is scheduled to be released next Monday now. We will be adding a special set of carbon style black paint jobs originally intended as a Black Friday feature, to all accounts who pre order any access to the Expansion before next Thursday 18:00 BST. The paint pack includes a skin for 29 of the 31 ships in the game.

I hope this would improve the situation for you, please let us know should this not be the case and we will look further into the problem.

Best Regards,

CMDR Vega
Elite: Dangerous Customer Support

I know that many people were justifiably skeptical of this claim posted by a brand new user with no other content, but it appears to be officially confirmed: https://www.frontierstore.net/games/elite-dangerous-cat/elite-dangerous-horizons-pre-order.html/

I mentioned this is another thread but thought it's also very relevant here! Thanks for the new sneak peak of Europa David. Keep up the great work :). Looking forward to beta testing

Following up on my previous post, the team are still working very hard indeed. We are not ready to go live with the beta today as we have already indicated was likely. We are very sorry about this, but it is not yet ready for a proper beta test because of some blocking issues. I will keep everyone posted over the next few days, and will check in on this thread from time to time for the next hour today, and will post more details here on those issues for those that are interested. We are confident in the Monday 30th date as we already have the key components to fix the issues we are seeing.

Once again, we are very sorry, and we thank you all for your support.

RIGHT ON CMDR!

David

Just call it an Alpha and release it early :-D

Just two weeks ago we released the project we had been working on for the last three years so I feel for the devs crunching away weekend after weekend. You guys are doing an awesome job and you have all my sympathy for putting in all this hard work. And kudos to the management as well for listening to their devs! I know companies that would have pushed it out prematurley no problem and blame it all on the devs afterwards.

It is actually a good sign that you guys have the standing to withold a release that is simply not quite finished yet, a few days are not going to hurt anyone :)

Double thumbs up, you have truely earned yourselves a couple of free weekends once this baby is out the door!
