Horizons Season Pass PS4

Hi Guys,

Bought Elite Dangerous for PS4 with the Horizons Season Pass. My Question is now the following:

Is Horizons installed automatically when I start the game the first time or do in need to enter the Code who is in the Box first (on PS4 Store) and download Horizons after? What is the size of the download?

Can someone please explain me this. Sorry for my english, i come from Switzerland.

Thank you for your Help.

Roger

Also new here, I bought the game on Tuesday and the season pass yesterday (I just couldn't resist). There was no download for Horizons, it just unlocks the content straight away, I didn't have to do anything.

Hope this helps.

One more question

I began to play the game in singleplayer mode on PS4 without Horizons on 27th June and invested a lot of time in order to earn credits. Do I need to start a new game after installing Horizons or can i go on with my old save.

You carry on where you left off, no need to start again :)
Just remember to go buy a planetary vehicle hanger module before you go landing on planets! I got overexcited after installing Horizons and didn't realise until after I'd landed that I had no SRV...

Hello, your English is better than many natives ;) Solo, Private, and Open all use the same save game data. You can choose which to play and change at any time as many times as you wish. Horizons is included in the installation.

Have fun. :)

Just continue with your old save. If you had horizons when you started, the only extra thing you'd have would be a srv module already installed on your starter ship. And you would have started the game on a planetary base instead of a space station.

Gruezi! (ok, have to keep down the foreign language in the forums...)

Ok, no idea about what the code is there for or how installation works on PS4, playing on PC myself. If you have trouble figuring it out, open a support ticket on https://support.frontier.co.uk/topic.php . Those guys and gals are amazing - quick and friendly.

Regarding your second question: your player doesn't change when switching to horizons - you can arbitrarily switch between solo, open, groups in either Horizons or the base game. In fact, switching back to the base game from Horizons (temporarily) is currently the best way to get yourself out of any fix (or bug) you ran into while driving around on a planet. If you ever get stuck with your SRV and don't want to roleplay for a rescue mission, log out, log into the base game, and you'll be safe and sound back in your ship in orbit.

BTW - your surname isn't Federer by any chance ;)?

Hi Roger,

You need to enter the code in the box to redeem the content on the PlayStation Store. After this is done, launch the game and you will have Horizons access. The download size will be very small as the file you receive acts as a key to unlock the content. You won't need to start again, your save and credits will all be intact.

Oh, and your English is very good!

Thanks to all for your help. I wish you a happy weekend.

Elite Dangerous is absolutely fantastic and the community here is also fantastic.

The Horizon Sidewinder is what is needed for planetary landings. If you are not using that, you may need to restart and select the Horizon Sidewinder.

So folks that did not select that option may need to restart and select Horizon Sidewinder to get planetary landings. And I must say the game is awesome. I launched from a moon and it felt like I was part of the 1970's show UFO taking off from a moon. Totally awesome. Spectacular!

Unless you had already started the game like I did. In that case you need to delete your saved game and restart to select Horizon Sidewinder to get planetary landings. After that it is totally different game.

I know this isn't of any use to you now but for anyone else in the same situation; once you have Horizons, if your ship doesn't have a landing suite you can fit it with a Planetary Landing Suite from within Outfitting to enable planetary landing, there's no need to restart to get a Horizons Sidewinder.

Hey guys - you do NOT need to restart unless you want too!

If you've been playing without Horizons for a few days and then get Horizons, you can simply outfit your existing ship with a sidewinder like I discuss in this short video:

Having said that, the bay and srv cost around 23K credits, so if you haven't made nearly that much yet you may want to restart, but as I show in Two Guys in Space Episode 1.1 you can have over 100K and a brand new Hauler in under 2 hours:

Hope this helps,

This is a bug they are looking into.

Hope your right, my subaccount player is doing quite well. My primary account is still at the dock. I started a sub because my psn account id name (primary) was setup by my grandkids, it's not one fitting a 68 year old space cadet. The primary has access but I don't, I hope they fix it soon.

I'm actually relieved that the sub account not having access is a bug that is being looked into. Just bought the season pass on ps store and thought I wasted $30.

Great, so it will, just have to wait. I only hope we don't have to delete the one were playing.
