General / Off-Topic Horizons Zero Dawn or Witcher 3?

Really hard to recommend one over the other.

They both look beautiful on PS4.

There's a lot more to do in Witcher 3 if longevity is a factor.

The Witcher. There's a reason some people call it the best game ever.

I am leaning toward the Witcher 3 Complete Edition, me being a huge Skyrim fan. Can I be an archer in Witcher, or am I just a sword guy?

Not really, you have a crossbow but long range combat isn't really viable.

Geralt is all about sticking em with the pointy end.

If archery is your thing, Aloy's your girl.

HZD is a great game, and depending how much time you have on your hands will be quicker to complete (and Platinum, if that is your thing). Witcher 3 will be a longer endeavour. I plan to get W3 at some point but just know it will be another massive time sink. :)

As willow says, if you like ranged combat, HZD all the way.

Ahhhhh, well my allegiances are beginning to shift! Does HZD have playability after the main quest has been solved, or is it pretty much over like an Uncharted title?

Similar with respect to collectables but, its fairly open world (once you progress so far) and you can do a lot of side quests, go where you want and stuff which is not at all like Uncharted.

Not really, you're free to carry on killing stuff and mop up any quests and achievements you haven't completed but other than that and sightseeing (it really is stunningly beautiful at times) there's no reason to continue playing particularly.

Witcher 3, for best feeling play Witcher 2 first. (a lot of same characters, nice feeling you know them makes your eyes wet)

Witcher is like good serial on TV, you need to watch it, after you saw last episode you dont know what to do with your life.

Length-wise, would you say HZD is just right, or a little short? I actually feel Uncharted 4 is a bit too long, in fact I haven't finished it yet. Remember, I'm the guy who has only unlocked two engineers and just got his first Conda.

I'd say HZD is in the goldilocks zone ;)

You can rush through the main quests in a few hours if you really want to. You can also spend hours (and hours and hours) immersing yourself in the world and completing sidequests and collections.

There are some things I wish were longer. I love doing the bandit camps, but there aren't very many of them and once they're done they're done.

Yup, agreed. I took my time because I am a bit of a completest so did all the side quests, ranked all the weapons and armour (got that shield generator armour thing) and then got the Platinum when I completed the game. You could do all that stuff later or in whatever order I guess after the main quest.

I do want to look at the DLC at some point. I am also tempted to a New Game+ on the top difficulty. Time, and at the moment its Elite Dangerous. :)

I continue to suffer from bugs and poor graphics, so I'm looking for some alternative games to play until the Beyond updates hopefully fix things for me (and Spaceman and Nemo and Star Tsar and ....).

Thankfully, Black Friday is next week!!! [squeeeee]

Yeh luckily mine is pretty much okay since the quality mode was fixed. Had some crashing with route plotting to SagA but now I am back in Colonia, seems ok, maybe when I head off to Beagle Point I will get some route crashes again.

You can't go wrong with either HZD or Witcher imo. Maybe look at PS4 Pro pricing on Black Friday?
