Horrendous Black Smearing

I don't know why Oculus does not implement a lower limit on how dark the screen can get, it would only take a lil bit o work in the driver.
Hear you, it is so freaking close! I'm almost beginning to think that it was intentional move from Oculus to "ignore" dk2 support. It would have been so easy to implement. But they need to sell cv's and dk2 is just dk, not ment to be a consumer product, so you can't blame them.

But they had the change to be, well, nice to people with dk2's...

I might buy Razer OSVR, does anybody know how is it, with the smearing and all? I heard somewhere there was allready a wrapper that allows you to play Rift games (sdk 1.3) with OSVR!

Gents firstly apologies for resurrecting an old thread but as the smearing is still an issue to this day, I came across something but I havent got the knowledge or experience to find the relevant files and tweak these values/lines as this guy is proposing

Hopefully someone in here can make sense of this document and maybe advise us further ?

Here it is http://doc-ok.org/?p=1082

Thanks for this, I read through it but it's only stuff that Oculus need to implement. It's not something we can access and edit ourselves

Black smearing is cause by ASW (Asynchronous Spacewarp) kicking in when your framerate falls below 90fps. Heavy bleack smearing means your framerate gets very low. Either your PC is not up to proper spec to run this game in VR (even with a 1080 you cant expect to run max settings !) or you have another issue that slows down your game.

Note: i am a VR user, i play with a CV1 too and upgraded my graphics card, it reduced ASW to almost nothing (unless it's a very heavy scene like a huge dogfight around asteroids).

You are absolutely wrong sir! I have black smearing/shadow smearing and ASW is forced off and have full fps. Please don't give people false info. It is a well known fact that black smearing is caused by todays display's inherent hardware limitations.
