Horrendous mining experience on XB1

For me at the moment mining simply doesn’t work. At least 50% of the time I visit any type of RES I will not be able to leave.

If I engage FSD for either a jump or a super cruise the countdown timer counts down then the whole game freezes at the blue swirl bit. Only way out from there is to close the app from the XB1 dashboard.

Then I spend an hour or so trying to log on again with connection issues. When it finally connects I have the same problem of being stuck in the RES.

Maybe the 4th or 5th attempt the FSD will engage properly.

Even if I try to mine half the time the asteroid chunks don’t materialise, or my limpets get the “programming...” message without actually spawning (note the limpet count goes down but there is no limpet to be seen!)

None of this would be an issue (‘Don’t do mining’ I hear you say) except it’s the only way to get to Selene. Nice.

Finally I persevere with this garbage to get my 500t saying to myself “never again “ only to find I now need to face the RNG gods for 10t of Painite which for all I know could take me another 500t or more as it’s not available to buy.

Again forced into a broken broken game loop. What the hell.

Sounds like a bug of some kind, I've never had an issue like that while mining.

Infinite blue tunnels occasionally happen, but it's usually when players are in the area.

Try clearing your cache and see if the problem persists.
 
I thought that too but it has no effect. Have done it several times. To be fair sometimes it works but it has no effect on whether it happens the next time so every time I mine it’s a lottery as to whether mining will work or whether I’ll be able to ‘cruise away.
At best it’s about 50:50.
 
Really odd, have you tried it in a wing?
I did a lot of mining and never experienced something like this.
Have you tried to not mine in a RES?
RES are actually more for bounty hunting except you are looking for some action while breaking the rocks.
Just drop into the ring anywhere else. Maybe that will fix it...
 
I know its annoying to hear when you have already done it, however have you tried a hard reset and checked your internet connection/speed?

infinite blue tunnel tends to indicate a connection issue .

It may be an idea to review the DNS being used by your XBox, these have been recommended elsewhere on the forum

I've had absolutely no issues using it while playing Elite.

Ye really should send in a ticket cos something aint right about this...also I very much doubt its performance related as the oneS is more or less exactly the same in terms of game performance as the older xb1...cant play games at 4k with a oneS only some movies with game performance exactly the same.

The only difference I can see is that yer using the Rez sites...which is something I never do when mining, but as ye already pointed out it makes no difference where ye mine...so send in a ticket cos thats just odd ^
 
Yeah my DNS setting on XB doesn’t look anything like any of those. Maybe that’s the problem. Unfortunately I know nothing about managing or changing this stuff.

Network settings on Xbox One

In order to set up DNS on your Xbox One, please do the following:

  • Navigate to the Dashboard.
  • Press the Options button on the controller.
  • Select Network.
  • Select Advanced Settings.
  • Select DNS settings.
  • Select Manual.
  • Enter Primary DNS 8.8.8.8 [see above for values to enter here this one is Google] and press enter

    N.B. Remember to make note of the setting currently in use before you change it. That way you can always back out the change if it makes things worse.

Thanks guys some good tips there I think. I’ve changed my DNS to those Google ones & will report how I get on next time I go mining. Have bookmarked the web app suggested by commander Stiehl9s too so hopefully that’ll help with the PAIN.

you do know you can mine anywhere in the ring like not just the marked areas like the res sites
