HOTAS for flying and a console controller for SRV - without wrecking bindings?

I'm trying the same thing with M/K and an Xbox One Contoller for SRV. And for the life of me I can't get it to work. I can see all the binding slots in my "Custom" config but when I select the appropriate ones I can't bind them to the Controller. I know it sees it because I can move through the menus with it.

I personally utilize a Hotas Warthog it is my default choice, which means, unless I want to change a binding, I never have to change anything in the control menu. I then plug in my Xbox controller which has my ear buds attached, thus allows me to hear and communicate via the discord I subscribe to.

I use three devices, a Virpil Alpha joystick, a Virpil Mongoos T-50 throttle, and a VKB Gladiator-K joystick all at the same time with no issues. It can sometimes be a pain telling which things assigned to which devices just from the setup screen, but Elite recognizes all of them.

Right now. I have to go into settings and switch what controller I'm using at the time. That is to say....

I'm flying with M/K (CUSTOM in settings), land on a planet. Deploy SRV.
Go to Options. Switch to Advanced Joy Pad (I like the way it lets me still keep some things bound to the keyboard, like the cargo scoop). Then I can drive the SRV with my controller.
Dock my SRV.
Go to Options. Switch back to M/K settings (CUSTOM). and now I can fly again.

I guess what I'm asking is... Is there a way to merge all the settings so I don't have to switch in settings when I change from M/K to Controller?

Do you need to switch from Custom to Joy pad? If it was me, I'd just enter all the settings in Custom for all your controllers. Of course, I don't use a joypad, so there may be something in Elite that doesn't let you do that. I know a lot of the SRV keybinds are separate from the flight ones, so there shouldn't be much conflict between devices.
