Hotfix 4 is a total horror!!!

Now that this has been resolved, I just want to point out that the title of the post is far too easily read in RCT-ese...

Hotfix 4 looks too intense for me... Hotfix 4 has too long of a queue...

So I uninstalled the game following Vampiro and Digler recommends.

The installation is completed and the game now works so I have a couple of things to say.............

I am sorry. As I was saying above. I am on long term injury and this game has been saving me for this entire time. 840 hours so far in just about 2 months of being stuck at home. The thought of being stuck at home was the thing that likely gave me a horrified feeling. I do know Frontier are working hard to follow up complaints by other players and generally improve the game. I am also regretful about the tone of this post. I went into full on panic. But I hope it will all serve me and others when it comes to just slowing down and trying things.

Thanks Frontier, thanks Paul Crowther, thanks Vampiro and thanks Digler.

Going to take a break for a day or two and go talk to a tree or something.............

"But I hope it will all serve me and others when it comes to just slowing down and trying things"
That is what community is about. We can't put all the blame on Frontiers' shoulders for performance issues. They have a lot to do and this game has more potential than both Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo. Set your settings a little lower maybe. I have a great mediocre system LOL but It plays well on my 4K HD monitor at medium to high settings.

Maybe they should play the first game and Zoo some more to realize what they need to do to make PC2 better than those two games. At least they released a roadmap to verify that they are working on stuff. I need no curb paths again to make railroad crossings properly by having the rails sunk into the path so that only the tops of the rails show.

I do have a choice to sync with the cloud or sync locally. I don't know what to press, I assume if I click sync the cloud to my PC, the game will fail as it's trying to sync the hotfix also. If I sync my PC to the cloud I won't get the hot fix?
Just on this, Steam cloud sync is for your saved games only, not for the game files.
Let's say you have a handheld device, like Steam deck for example, and you play PC2 while away on holiday. Next time you're back home on your computer, Steam tells you that the cloud save is newer than your local computer save.
Obviously it's still important to select the desired file to be kept and you can erase your progress made on a different device, but just wanted to clarify it's not about the game files at all :)

What a strange set of experiences. As you know from my replies above, the Hotfix problem was cured by reinstalling the game. I played for a day after that.

The following day, I loaded Steam and a new 400mb approx download began. That went fine but I went into the game and although the saved park was present, it had reverted to an old version. The previous day's gameplay lost. I thought it was weird but I went back to another park and didn't think much about it.

Every single time I have come back to the game following the closure of Steam, a new 400mb update for the game is sent to me. And each time it happens, my game reverts back to a pre-Hotfix 4 state. I am starting to notice that blueprints are also affected and these are reverting to an older state.

Then today, well, I don't know what to say any more.

The game had a random crash and then neither Steam nor the game would load.

I ended up following the previous advice and re-installing both. To get this.............

And when the game update finished, this was the result......

So I don't know what is going on any more but I just don't see the point. Having enjoyed the game there is just no point trying any more. Hotfix 4 and Steam as a bit of team work insists on making the game totally unusable for me.

Welcome to send me some kind of notification when a new patch is available and I'll give it a try but I think I am about done now.

Shame. 928 hours so far. 2808 Planet Zoo Hours. 3068 Planet Coaster hours. These are the only games I play. Until today.

I am so fed up with all of this now. Got to find a game which doesn't cause intrusive thought.

Bye all.

I've got the Steam update working now but the Planet Coaster 2 update still says that the Update files are corrupted. Thanks for your advice but I just can't be bothered anymore Paul. 980 hours is a lot to invest since Nov 6th and it's turned out pointless and to be a genuine waste of time. I don't even want to think about the triple A price tag only to then see the game on sale after 3 weeks. Sorry, too much has happened and I don't want to be involved any more.

Naaah. I'm done I think. Playing games is meant to be fun. Going to see what else there is available to play and maybe come back to this when it's £9.99..

Setting up windows is a bit oldschool, but not the worst idea.

If you STILL got issues, i really advice you to check your disk health. (especially if you run a hdd), but also ssd/NvMes can have some issues.

Shame to hear you are still experiencing issue's. As stated above the problems you have could be related to the game / steam but potentially could also point to a hardware issue.

Seems like you are restoring Windows, please keep us in the loop about how things turn out. The help we can offer might be limited but you are a loyal player who enjoys the game so it would be a loss to see you turn away because of weird issue's :)

Fingers crossed!

I'm sorry to say it was a bit of a pointless exercise. I uninstalled and reinstalled everything. The update failed again with the Missing files error on both the Planet Coaster 2 and Steam updates. And noticed during this time now that when using Steam to uninstall in the recommended way, the Desktop icon for the game is still there and still tries to load the game and Steam. So I've used Add/Remove programs to get rid of them both again and after yet another attempt at 7.1gb to get the game back, I am back in the position I was at lunch time where neither Steam nor the game will load at all.

I'm never going to believe my PC is at fault whilst only one program is affected, especially given a refresh and restore.

I think I've persisted for long enough but I am struggling with the idea that this might be the end of my 30 year RCT playing. I'd try again maybe at a later date but right now just feeling very burned and let down. 19 hours ago I put my first ever videos on Youtube and now just feel like an idiot. Probs fair to say I've had enough.

@PC_OCD I haven't disregarded anybody. It's been on issue tracker and emails about a few subjects have been swapped. I don't see the need to email them again.

But now look, just now a moment ago after getting Steam to load again....................

Does this mean it's worked? I mean I've only been trying to get to this stage for 8 hours and multiple installs.

I don't know what's going on any more.

I had that problem with Steam last September where it gave me those four options, including disabling browser, and I uninstalled Steam and reinstalled on my Windows 8.1 computer. Then, I tried to load Steam and it wouldn't load even though it showed in the task manager. I gave up and waited until I got my beefier computer for Planet Coaster 2 at the end of October and in November I installed Steam on that computer which has Windows 10 and it worked. I still have my old computer but I won't bother with Steam on it anymore and support for Windows 8.1 ended at the beginning of last year.

Well...that is final eh? lol Look man, I get it, I really do. The one game I was addicted to was FSX, and I bought and made computers out of my yin-yang, still had problems but that is what you get when running so many programs at once. This game as well as PC1, and PZ have had issues with gamers including me, and this game still crashes and is not fully finished yet IMHO. Let me ask you some basic questions MrHappy, what is your PC specifically its specs? You never know what might be happening behind that computer screen you can't see. This could simply be a virus program or a Windows thing on your computer. Or something you do all the time with the comp. that doesn't set off red flags in your mind. It happens all the time.
