How about space animals? :3

Looks like the cat from outer space from the movie when I was a kid without his glowing collar.
His name is Titan.

He had a sister (Phoebe) who sadly died suddenly when they were about two years old. Titan now spends his time with me idly watching the screens & occasionally batting the mouse arrow or an NPC. He is a good lad, not sure how he'd cope in zero G though ;)

Our Co-pilots die when our ship gets destroyed.
Would our pets also die during ship destruction.
A crew member has utility & value, I don't necessarily agree with it but I can see an argument for why they are lost (like cargo or exploration data). A pet would be more like a cosmetic item, there would be no tactical advantage to anyone for it to be lost on ship destruction.

I think it would be a great idea. Then we could put Bobble head tomb stones on our dash boards.

Pinky.. Tiddles.. Patch.. Socks.. Mr jinkys.. Jeff..

Space pets will only be realistic in game if they block your view when performing urgent tasks such as exiting super cruise or evading interdiction, about to land on high-G bodies, etc...

How about an in-game cat helmet?

After all, they make great helmets in real life, though you have to balance them carefully if you don't want to get scratched.

Is the canopy integrity issue still a thing? I could foresee some problems if it is. I don't think FD would get many positive reactions to having Tiddles sucked out into space during a canopy breach.

I regularly have two cats in my cockpit, and I can tell from experience that this is not a good idea. They learn very quickly where to boost and in which situation that's most fatal to do that. Same with just running and sitting in front of the monitor or cuddling the flightstick... Cats in the cockpit are a menace.

Apart from that, space ship cockpits and bridges should never be an area for animals running around freely. And then there is zero gravity or crazy gravity by accelerating and turning and whatever movement the ship makes.

A bald siamese cat in a remlok suit and helmet. The suit reads the movement of the cat and translates it to thruster activations for moving the cat around zero-g.

Yeah bad idea. Vacuum flash frozen pet missiles. Would that be in the restock menu or the commodities menu?
