How are headtracking users managing on-foot aiming?

I can only think that Frontier think this is a VR problem and they don't support full VR in Odyssey, so therefore they won't fix head-tracking. Although this obviously can't be right because head-tracking is nothing like VR. I'm clutching at straws here for an explanation.

At the very least, all I'm asking for is to automatically switch off head-tracking when you go on-foot so I don't have to do it myself manually each time.

I give up. In any case, I'm not spending a lot of time in ED as of late.

It's a real shame that things have worked out the way they have. This last year has certainly been an Odyssey - just not the one I would have chosen.
 
Yep its still kinda ridiculous - all the derpy angles and misalignments are just embarrassing.

It should be an option though, since I find the headtracking works just fine for me when on foot

Yes, I've always said this should be optional, though I'm not sure how it can be working for you though when we can clearly see from the screenshots that GraphicEqualizer posted above that the game is tracking the movement of the head inside the helmut and not the entire head. This is demonstrated by the HUD moving on-screen in response to the input from the physical head-tracker (eg TrackIR). Anyway this whole topic has been a long drawn-out process of discussion and if you feel it is working correctly for you then I'm happy for you.
 
Just thought I'd bump this thread again as I wanted to find out if anyone has heard any news about whether Frontier have acknowledged the Odyssey on-foot headtracking issue? I've not been playing for a while now (this issue, amongst others a contributing factor), so I'm a bit out of the loop.

I note that the Issue Tracker Report is not showing anything new.

the issue has a green tick, which means it's Acknowledged by fdev. I guess it's on an internal list there now, but priority - who knows.
