How are people getting the side-facing CMDR portraits?

So now and then, I keep seeing these Odyssey CMDR portraits where the CMDR is looking to the right.

This picture was taken by "The Prof" and posted by "The Lawful" here.

I'd much rather use this than the painful smirk your commander gets, when you dress them up in Odyssey suits.
Is there any known way to get this portrait in-game? Or is it just a bug that takes effect if you're lucky?

Hey I think that's the menu down in your lap where you deploy or disembark etc. Mine looks similar

But you might get a better shot or not, try rotating them in the Manage Loadouts. With my xbox controller that is bound on the right stick

Ah, sorry, I should have clarified, I'm looking for a way to avoid that silly smirk in my profile picture 😅
I sometimes see CMDRs with right-facing profile pictures in chat too, it's quite odd..

Left right in chat I think is gender based.

The suit you wear determines if you have a smirk or not in the menu pics. Mav definitely smirks, not sure about the others.

So the comparison is really between these two. I suspect it's down to the suit and outfitting selected, the second is a base artemis suit.
