How big would a ship have to be to hold a sidey or eagle?

Slfs are cool, but do any of the in-game ships, or the potential Panther Clipper have the room to hold or launch a sidey or eagle?

The fighter bay model we have no only comes in one size, and it isn't big enough to hold either. Hell, it isn't actually even big enough to hold an Imperial fighter (the wings clip pretty badly through the bars). A T9/T10 could probably accommodate a large enough bay for a Sidewinder, if one were made.

For a medium ship only a python would be anywhere near big enough, large ships wise it would have to be Conda Cutter Corvette Type 9 & Type Type 10 as the beluga / orca / t7 / clipper are all too narrow. The biggest problem is that none of those ships have sufficiently large an aperture through which they could launch an eagle.

If the fluff text were to be believed (hint: don’t), then the answer is the Annaconda can carry a Sidewinder. There happens to be a large door or hatch on the front of the ‘belly’ that looks about right for a small craft bay.

Best guess so far, also wait for squadrons and see if anacondas can be guild carriers :D

According to the original description of the anaconda, about the size of an anaconda.

It used to say that it could launch sidewinder(s?) from it. (Does it still say this?)

Ty all for responding. I suspected the sidey was the original fighter for the conda... I guess you all verified and crushed that thought at the same time.

The Anaconda can also be upgraded with a docking bay allowing small fighters up to Sidewinder-size to be carried and launched, however most are only capable of supporting short-range fighters.

I was looking at the size comparison pic, the T-9 and T10 easily fit a SW size hanger. The conda, cutter, corvette could hold one - maybe. Others are debatable, like the python (giving up its SRV hanger), clipper or beluga.

Its fun seeing the reply. GL HF

Ah so they did change it somewhat. It definately didn't used to say the "however, most are only capable of..." part in the past.

Really curious to see if we ever get Sidewinders launching from Anacondas, I'm a bit skeptical we well but maybe..
The Sidey is pretty small so perhaps a new tiny or extra small bay that can only accept the absolute smallest of the small ships.
If the can get the command authority issues sorted out this would be a lovely addition for exploration. Leave the main ship in orbit, drop down to the surface in your landing craft and then get out the SRV...
One can dream :)

What the big cargo ships need is a hanger big enough to carry a Hauler. Then they could deliver cargo to planetary outposts and platforms that only have small and medium pads.
