How can CQC be revived?

I really enjoyed CQC, when it first came out I had a blast flying around in the little ships shooting folk, using the speed boosters and dancing FA OFF around the various collidables. I spend a lot of time exploring and CQC would be a great way to alleviate space madness for example if... people actually played it.

I've lost count of the amount of times that I've spent 10+ minutes in matchmaking then given up. Obviously, some new maps and new ships available to be used would be nice, but I imagine Frontier would only put that kind of effort in if more people actually played it.

Perhaps some ARX + a respectable amount (1 million?) Credits as a reward for winning a match? And the others in the top 3 get some credits, give some incentive to win a match and earn some sweet cosmetics.

At the end of the day, we all love a bit of cosmetic bling on our ships and giving away some ARX isn't going to ruin any game balance or affect other players, and would maybe entice people to get on that matchmaking. Maybe also some unique decals/paintjobs/ship kits that could only be earned by winning X amount of matches?

I'm by no means an expert on this, I'd just like CQC to be more than just an afterthought that almost nobody plays. Or am I barking up the wrong tree and nobody cares about it anymore? Perhaps just some bloody Elite bots to play against so we can grind out that 4th rank.
 
There have been features I've wanted in the effort to revitalize CQC for some time now. Those are:
  • Allow purchase of unlocked CQC ships in base game
  • Award worthwhile materials/ credits to CQC winners
  • Unlock higher ranks of NPC crew to hire directly based on your own CQC rank
  • Offer NPC crew discounts based on CQC rank (sort of like an employee discount)
  • Offer missions in base game for CQC rounds/ targets with scaling pay based on server population to bring players from one mode into the other.
  • Offer CQC weapons in game
  • Show server population and active games so players can pick the right mode or let players que for all modes.
  • Allow players to fly empty servers while they wait for the game to start or allow them to cue up in the base game.
  • NPCs in CQC.
  • CQC waypoints that affect faction influence.
  • Free to play CQC.
  • Allow Cosmetics to appear in CQC
  • Race mode with solo capability based on timed trials.
 
CQC needs help. CQC needs healing.

CQC should probably get a revamp. Only 4 small ships just ain't gonna cut it for most people, sad to say. I have played a litle myself, and I think that we should have some CQC weapons in the main game (ship-mounted plasma repeaters please Fdev!)
But yeah, racing would be cool. You could buy stuff like a boost enhancer module, or some manouvering thruster improvement to prevent skids. :unsure:
 
I played it couple of times. I always think I might return, especially as a break on some long exploration trip.
But I can't get myself to go exploring for long enough and between CQC and the game I always prefer the game.
I've never been too much into those fast, small map, multiplayer arena shooters.
 
If they would add some different sized ship classes to use in cqc. Oh, and maybe fix some of the PS4 bugs from 2 years ago still in cqc. Maybe a few new hardpoints. Fully customizable cqc ships with available engineering. Cqc ship paint jobs very different from the already existing paint skins in game. More/ different utility mods available. Last cmdr standing matches for a quick match with potentially higher xp rewards. I could probably keep going.
 
Full on degenerate mode: let us gamble Arx on matches. Not just our matches, but other people's matches.

Spectator mode so we can watch others fight. Some kind of weight class. If you lose, you get demoted.
