How can CQC be revived?

Nobody gives a (f)ARX about CQC
Nobody = You

All CQC need be more popular:
  • waiting for match while you are doing stuff in the main game
  • earning more stuff for playing it (not only more CR, but some ARX as well, or rare materials would be nice)
  • access to special paintjobs and decals for prestiged CQC players
  • fix the bugs obviously
But I must say CQC on PC is doing fine, I have no problems with finding matches at all.. yes it's mainly Deathmatch, but on weekends it's possible to get random Team Deathmatches too. Capture the Flag is not popular and people prefer to play the other two.

I've heard PS4 and XBOX platforms struggle with low CQC population, even more reason for Frontier to give something to players to encourage them to play it. All you need is 2 people in a queue to start DM.

Disgusted that they even added it to the game, it wasn't in the game that we backed for, and all the wasted time that they worked on it could have been put to better aspects of the original game.
The sooner its gone the better.

I would like the ability to select who I fight with as an option so I could arrange a fun evening playing CQC with a group of friends instead of having to rely on matchmaking and people playing.

I N S P I R E D !

Oh yeah. I would gamble Arx and keep a match maker open for an hour.

Gambling for Arx.

Yes yes yes.

Bad idea - if you don't want 'gold farmers' in the game 'transferring' Arx to people at 10 cents per 400 Arx, don't make Arx transferable in any way.

I really enjoyed CQC, when it first came out I had a blast flying around in the little ships shooting folk, using the speed boosters and dancing FA OFF around the various collidables. I spend a lot of time exploring and CQC would be a great way to alleviate space madness for example if... people actually played it.

I've lost count of the amount of times that I've spent 10+ minutes in matchmaking then given up. Obviously, some new maps and new ships available to be used would be nice, but I imagine Frontier would only put that kind of effort in if more people actually played it.

Perhaps some ARX + a respectable amount (1 million?) Credits as a reward for winning a match? And the others in the top 3 get some credits, give some incentive to win a match and earn some sweet cosmetics.

At the end of the day, we all love a bit of cosmetic bling on our ships and giving away some ARX isn't going to ruin any game balance or affect other players, and would maybe entice people to get on that matchmaking. Maybe also some unique decals/paintjobs/ship kits that could only be earned by winning X amount of matches?

I'm by no means an expert on this, I'd just like CQC to be more than just an afterthought that almost nobody plays. Or am I barking up the wrong tree and nobody cares about it anymore? Perhaps just some bloody Elite bots to play against so we can grind out that 4th rank.
CQC's gameplay/ethos needs to be brought into the core game to be utilised there!

eg: Right now we could be undertaking missions/tasks to holo-me into fighters based at capital ships to fight off thargoid scouts. And with just a bit of effort PvP related scenarios could ve orchestrated in OPEN. eg: Within Powerplay a location could be fought over in fighters by the game orchestrating battles between CMDRs from two opposing powers.

Making CQC a stand alone game was a poor choice. If it had instead been invested into the core game, we'd have had a whole load of mechanics and gameplay that could be leveraged across the entier game. ie: Part of the reason the Thargoid Invasion is such a wasted opportunity is with years to prepare, FD didn't put in any mechanics into the game which they could then leverage to make the most of the invasion. And that issue (ethos) has gone on year after year after year...

No Arx for CQC by design tells you everything you need to know about plans for ongoing support of the Arena play mode.

It’s dead, let it RIP.

WHY would you prevent match fixing?

If you are going to have open gambling on other peoples matches, for ARX then to prevent deception and people purposely throwing a match to unfairly influence the result, you would need mechanisms to prevent match fixing would you not ?

Edit: Match Making - the downfall of CQC, is a completely different thing.

Allow a mode where players can enter with their own main game ships, and create tournaments and team matches with their main game ships.
