How can I identify direction?

Bah! Amateur!

Based on what we know from Lore of shady characters allegedly travelling back and forth to Raxxla and from what we know of ship's travel capabilities back then, Raxxla must be pretty close to the bubble, if not actually within it.

Assuming, of course, that Raxxla doesn't provide some kind of super-fast travel method across huge distances.
Between the Bubble and the nebulas / generation ships. The Bubble itself is mapped, but you don't need to go a huge distance to find unmapped bodies.

I have to thank all the super elite sleuths that identified this object so fast!

I refer you to @Dommarraa 's above mentioned NGC7822 drinking game 😀

We all get lured to that place on our first trips in the black eventually, so when someone "new" asks about that peculiar looking thing he/she saw in the sky and how to reach it, we are almost sure it's NGC 7822. Enjoy the place, it's full of black holes and neutrons (sometimes binary with the main O star), plenty of great views both in Horizon and Odyssey, well worth a visit.

I decided to turn back and head for the nearest station (2K LY away) to make sure I didn't lose all this great cartographic data. Just by chance, that station was in the same general direction as NGC 7822.

Here is that trip, from the cockpit perspective right before each jump. (Sorry, I haven't figured out how to use the free camera suite.)

I didn't realize until I actually got to the station that it was was right next to the nebula. Just before I docked that tight group of bright stars filled the whole screen. There's a galmap shot of my last jump. And look at the beating my poor ship took out there!

Next stop, Raxxla...

Isn't that the area known as cupids arrow?
There is a tourist beacon out there too.
I stopped off there many moons ago on my first trip to Andromedae, back then it took yonks to get anywhere as no fsd boosters or engineering
