Newcomer / Intro How can i see the bounty on my head again?

I have not played for a week, so i am bound to have a bounty on my head for speeding or something like that, but where could I see that?

then again, I could buy a sidewinder and die in it to solve this, but I thought I could see it somewhere??

Use a mirror.

Ahem...check transactions in your panel to the left. Any bounties will be visible here, separated by faction - so you'd need to manually add up to see total bounty.

Ftr, speeding will not give you a bounty unless you actually hit someone and kill them. You get a fine, which turns into a bounty later if not paid off.

After a week, I doubt that you have any. You find them on your "Transactions" tab. If you had any, they'll probably now show as fines and it'll be safe to go back there again. Pay the fines if you want. Rather than travel all round to pay them, use your galaxy map filter to show lowsecurity systems. Go to the nearest one with a station/outpost, where, under "contacts", you'll find the Interstellar contact, who'll sort you out. Dormant bounties are nearly the same as normal ones. Don't go back if you still have one. Wait until it expires.

I probably just don't understand the mechanism... I had this fine for speeding or staying on the landing pad too long or something like that... I get these all the time. And this was in an area that I was not planning on visiting soon. Then I dropped playing for a week and now it is gone from the transaction list...

Should I worry? Is it over now? Do I get all these criminal sent after me now? What?

Go to any Low Security System and dock at a place that has the Interstellar Factors Contact.

There, you should be able to pay off any fines/bounties or simply review them.

Yes, Fines that aren't paid will eventually be turned into bounty.
You can always go into a low security system, find the shady individual in station's contacts and pay off all your fines at once.

But if you're not planning on visiting the systems where you're wanted, you can as well ignore it. Aside from an occasional bounty hunter sent after you, it means nothing.

It is an annoyance that outstanding fines are removed form the transactions tab if you don't remember to pay them off in time. The trouble is, if they were left on there (after they become bounties), many people would have an enormous list to scroll through. ;)

The small fines for speeding, loitering, trespass, etc don't change to bounties. It's only the big one, like when you get caught with illicit goods that do that. After some time, they just disappear off your transactions, but you still owe the money.

You can completely forget about the fines that disappeared. Nobody will chase you for them or hold it against you. They'll get taken out of your credits if you die, or you can see which ones you have when you visit any Intergalactic Contact guy in a low security system. When you visit him, he'll take payment for them if you want.

I did not know that, I thought they all turned into bounties if you didn't pay them off. Thanks for the info.

(I seem to have been too parsimonious with my rep-giving so can't give you another yet - so have a +1 virtual rep instead [up] )

Uncle Jack says they do turn to bounties if you do not pay off minor offences after 7 days and do not die within those 7 days. Although the document was last updated in August 2015 and haven't verified it myself as I tend to pay off minor fines as soon as I'm issued with them:
Uncle Jack's Guide to Crime & Punishment

Well over 3000hrs in the game and i've never seen one change to a bounty. When 2.2 introduced those Intergalactic contacts, I went to see one, and the list of unpaid fines went on for pages: something like one million made up of 200cr fines.

PS: I've just read Uncle Jack's flowchart in your link. It says fines go dormant, not become bounties!

I recently checked the interstellar contact and had a whole bunch of fines I'd forgotten about. They hadn't turned to bounties though so I'm not sure how that mechanic works? They were all legacy fines, or does that mean the bounty since expired? Could explain why I was being interdicted a lot for a while and why it's calmed down now. They were all quite historical though, like from the previous 6 months or more. They odd speeding fine or skimmer I killed, etc.

You don't have to speculate about why NPCs interdict you. It always says why in the comms panel. Its one of: Powerplay; you have cargo; you're on a mission with a warning about ships being sent after you; you have a bounty on you somewhere. I've never seen one come after me for unpaid fines, except when the large fine changed to a bounty because I didn't pay it.

I was getting chain interdicted with no cargo, no missions and no powerplay by the way. This is some time ago, maybe 6 months. It stopped me playing the game. I've rarely had any interdictions on returning to the game, except of course when on a mission or hauling. As soon as I returned I cleared all the old fines and stuff so that's why I was thinking this could have been the reason. back then there was no way to see what fines you had, etc.

Well that's not quite true is it? Just as an example, yesterday I was wandering across part of the bubble in my exploration equipped AspX, heading for the black: no missions, no cargo, no powerpants, no bounties (or fines or whatever outstanding) and en-route I had three NPC pirate interdictions all with the "so the rumour was right, glad I found you first". So they do still interdict just out of a psychopathic need to kill, instilled in them by the MoM. ;)

not forgetting , mining limpets , engineers materials and data , and any month with a Y in it , interdictions are part of the game , always have been always will be , fight or run , its not that difficult .

Hmmmm! I've never had that! Are you sure you didn't have a bounty on you for something somewhere? Those "rumour" ones are normally from missions.

One other thing: You get the occasional interdiction for a security scan from the Feds, but they don't shoot you unless you're a bad guy.

They don't go after limpets anymore. Neither do they go after engineer's materials or data.

..................

I go through spates of being interdicted every few h-jumps and then nothing for ages. I have no unpaid fines, bounties or anything else. (I am sure of this as after the last CG finished I went to a factor to try one out and cashed in a remote bounty credit, there were no other options - plus I do make sure that any fines I get are paid off right away as I was convinced they turned into bounties.)

Yes the rumour ones are usually / normally for mission-related ones but I had no missions and no cargo so I suppose they just send whatever text is to hand. ;)

I did get one military interdiction on the same trip too (civil war in the system I think) but I never mentioned that as it was not germane.

When (in my first account) I did my very first venture of a (mini) exploration trip not long after I had got my first Asp (over 18 months ago I suppose) I was interdicted by a pirate NPC many hundreds of Ly from civilization but I suppose that has been fixed as I am several KLy out and not seen owt (not even an alien). (EDIT - Touch wood!)
