PvP How can we get emergent gameplay to work in ED?

For some emergent pvp i thought the following:

Find a space station in an anarchy area that sells an eagle.

Only allow players to equip said eagle from what is for sale in that station.

all meet up a nice distance directly away from the station exit.

fight.....

blow up....

respawn, rejoin the herd, and fight some more...

could be fun for an occassional event.

If you ran it in open and posted about it in the forum you'd have to run the ramming gauntlet in and out of the station, then the ganking gauntlet in supercruise then the inevitable corvette's and cutters splatting the eagles in the chosen location. Do it in group and people would join just to do the above and not log out so they couldn't be banned, and solo would sort of defeat the object.

There's no aspect of PVP that "PVP'ers" can't ruin then complain about.

Remember this:

It was run in open, and while not directly posted on the forums, that post did get me a couple of inquiries and I gave the people the info. It was also advertised in reasonably popular elite dangerous twitch streams. Streams where plenty of well known PVP'ers stop in and watch.

It went fine. And even if people did show up with full on PVP ships, enough of the participants also had full on PVP ships to jump into. So we would have just had normal fights, but probably with a huge numbers advantage. And all the new guys in vipers would still get to join in the fight. Everyone was dying regardless.

In fact when we were doing this before, a somewhat well know PVP'er showed up in an FDL. It quickly became a 10 v 1 against the guy. And everyone had a lot of fun.

I'm a brit that was the written equivalent of sarcastic "air quotes" it's as harsh an insult as is possible using the Queens English for those who simply claim to be PVP'ers.

Yep I remember the thread, and I'm interested in joining in when I get the chance. However the more thought I've given it the more I think making it a regular thing would need a regular location or an easily checkable information source. Either of which would just become another hotspot like CG's or engineer's.

I love PvP because it actually takes skill.

Problem is P2P networking. I'm in New Zealand. I've seen like 4 people in the same instance max, unless I'm in a wing. I have 900mb down and 500mb up fiber, but it's based on location no doubt.

That's why I say "if you want peace and quiet, come to the Asia-Pacific instances". Okay, I met about ten CMDRs at the system where we all first discovered the destroyed Federeation cap ships and we all were just mooching around. Most people I've ever seen in an instance, mostly Aussies, and it was during lunchtime in NZ.

As for PvP, I'll fight if I can be bothered or if there's a good reason to. Thanks to our rather sparse instances, I've only ever engaged other CMDRs twice in my entire time on ED, both resulting in losses. If I choose not to fight and my attempt to run fails, I'll quite likely come to a full stop and let the attacker(s) see their desired exploding space pixels, along with a "you win" message on the local channel. I've only ever done that once before when I was at a combat community goal and I ended up surrounded by three opposing CMDRs in superior ships. I think I fought for about twenty seconds before realising that I'd been outmaneuvered and outplayed, and fighting would have just delayed the inevitable. I didn't want to engage any live people at that time because it was late and I was tired. Neither do I want to combat log, so this is my compromise. I've got enough credits to rebuy any of my ships more than twenty times so it's no real bother to me, and just allows us all to get on with the game with a minimum of fuss.

If you're saying that pitting the USS Ronald Reagan (with a couple of guided missile destroyers for company) against the HMS Endurance, or possibly even the QE II, or isn't a viable concept - I'd have to agree ;)

In ED QE II would win, If she was outfitted for combat.
HRPs and MRPs in every cabin would ensure that. ;)

Say hi to Rinzler and Hazmango for me when you run into them.

...and division in community.

...
Private groups, though, form a real community barrier for selfish arrogants that feel theyr're too good to play with the community- the same community supporting their CG and solving tyheir ARGs, mind.
...
It's not the game that makes people divisive, it's divisive words by the people that divide them. Like calling them selfish, arrogant, and so on. So don't divide people and there will be less division.

Perhaps that may eventually happen. I'm having a terrible time finding other CMDRs at all. I'm off to HR 7037 or wherever that Wolves CG is to see if I can scare up some company. I imagine I'll last about six seconds before I see the rebuy screen but that's life.

Here is a simple example of how things could look with minor changes to the game.

New rules:
- No stacking of utilities. One of each.
- No internal defensive modules. You have shield and armour.

Running cargo for the CG we have the armed Python:

Doing CG blokade we have the good old FdL:
http://edshipyard.com/#/L=A0O0,HhQ0...0,,7SkGq7KsuKQn7iUrmfWq00cpN3gpN3kpN36D200M20

Both builds are simplified and engnieered with medium rolls.

How would this change the dynamics in the game?
