How do I complete these new contact missions?

I have no idea what to do... Okay, this one says to take cargo, and wait to be contacted. The mission will fail if I die. Flew around in different systems in normal flight, super cruise, checked USS's, etc, never got contacted, never found my contact, never was attacked for my "cargo that will likely draw attention." How do I move forward in this mission type?

Second, hostage rescue? Not sure what I was supposed to be looking for there either, went to USS's etc, didn't find any hostages for the longest time, so went and got a hatch breaker, and just started testing random ships until I found the mission target, picked up the hostages, missions disappeared?

This pattern continues for the rest of the new missions... Sure, they say what to do, but they also don't tell you what to do... "Wait to be contacted." Okay, but where should I be? Who am I looking for? Is there a specific system? I'm all for the game not holding your hand, but I'd like it for the first portion of a mission, to not be trying to figure out how to progress in it. That's usually for like the end game almost reached the boss puzzle to solve the riddle of the weapon needed to defeat him. Not how to get out of your house to begin your quest, lol.

currently sitting out in Lie Yu Kou for 45 minutes on what was supposed to be a wait 19 minutes and we'll call you mission. this is so freaking annoying. I'd abandon it if it wasn't for the faction im trying to get in power >_>
 
I managed to complete one in the end by a) waiting 20 mins in normal space in the target system, then getting an update with an eta. Another 20 min wait, followed by the usual "follow my wake". Not sure I'll take many more of these!
 
How on God's green Earth is this considered to be enjoyable by anyone?!?

If the missions worked properly, it would be enjoyable...but at this point, as I said in my other thread, these missions are only good for draining your reputation at the moment.

FWIW I had the same problem with gauntlet, contact and search and rescue missions... none were complete-able and a bug report was filed. I still would recommend avoiding these until we know they are fixed...
 
I guarantee that some of the devs at FD felt the floor fall out from underneath them when, after this big launch, so many bugs and problems occurred. It's pretty much a worst-case scenario, somewhere just under a total server crash or data loss, lol. I figure, give it a week or two and hopefully all will be working and back to normal. Until then, I'm afraid to even log in for fear of some glitch costing me more reputation or credits.

...Or, like the continual interdiction bug problem that still exists, the other broken pieces will just stay the same. But that's not likely.

I cannot imagine doing another of the hazardous cargo missions again, I flew around for at least 30 minutes occasionally getting interdicted but never once getting the "you will be contacted later" information. I abandoned it shortly thereafter.

Similarly to you I didn't really know what to do...I scanned a few ships to try and find the contact, couldn't so carried on with another mission but didn't abandon that one. The contact found me in a system a couple of hops away and gave me the completion details....I haven't tried another of those type yet but it appears to be a case of hanging onto the delivery and they will come and find you.

Yeah, if I try it again I will be sure I remain busy with other missions or trading or bounty hunting while that one is in my list, that's for sure.
 
What ever happend to go to system x, kill x pirates, get xxx,xxx credits? I haven't been able to find a single one of these missions. I liked picking these up during trading runs to break up the monotony of trading.

thats why i was like ima just spend that time in HRES instead and make 2 or more mln instead of pathetic 30-100k lol in that period of time. Majority of missions don't make sense at all since the game released, too much vague info on everything. That's why you just forget about it and farm HRES or trading IF you all calculated and know routes.

Yup. I do things to try and have some fun, but if I need money, I'm going to Robigo, (20m smuggling missions) or Jura. (minimum of 3m per hour in a HazRES)

They are still there, just not as often anymore. I did the Cemiess run last night, only got 3 pirate missions hitting the four stations on both solo and open play. Doing that in 1.4 would usually get me 8 to 10 missions to do.

Ive posted a bug report on this which the mod has asked for other people to confirm. I'm hoping they know how much fun they've sucked out of the game with 1.5 for combat pilot's but if you want to make sure post on my bug thread or create a new one.
