Subject. Been trying for a while now and can't figure it out. Searches come up empty. I'm just trying to get around a stupid planet so I can frameshift out.

Look at left panel, find the target you've locked onto. Select it and an "Unlock Destination" option will show up

Press the button to target the object in front of you and make sure you're not facing anything.

Did that. It's keeping the lock. I'm trying to jump out of the system but the system I'm trying to get to is on the other side of a planet. Is "unlock target" different than deselecting destination? Because I can't seem to do either.

Thank you!

You can select any local object from the nav menu. When you engage your FSD, you'll go into super cruise. Once you're in SC, target your destination star, navigate around the obstruction, and engage the FSD again to enter hyperspace.

Salute folks!

If your target destination, NOT target for combat, is obscured, you must deselect your target keeping in mind where the target is. Then enter supercruise and navigate far enough over the obstruction for a clear line of sight. Then re-lock the target and you can jump there no problem. I have not had this happen in a while but I am sure this is accurate.
To unlock the target, go to left panel and select your destination again. You will see an option to unlock target. That should do it.
Good luck sir.

Salute! and cya in the stars!

This is how I do it :

SuperCruise : I have a button for "Target next Hostile". Unless you're interdicted (Button will instantly target your Interdictor for instant info), this will deselect any Ship you're locked onto, giving you Info i.e. on your Destination Station again

Normal Space : I use a button for "Target ahead". If pointing at a locked Target, clicking it will deselect it (provided there's no other Ship near it). Clicking again while still pointing will re-target that Ship.
(caviat : if targeting into a "furball" of many Ships, repeatedly clicking it will effectively cycle through all Targets within the few degrees the Target Ahead function will work; if it's a single Hostile amongst non-hostile Ships, "Target next Hostile" will instantly lock onto your single Hostile Target again)

Most of the time, above works like a charm for me (unlock in SuperCruise or de-select a chaffing Hostile for my Gimbal Weapons ; or make Turrets momentarily cease fire vs. Chaffing Target)

There are dedicated buttons for both of the frameshift modes

The rocker switch on my x56, I have one set to your usual bog standard general purpose mode and other set to the dedicated super cruise mode.

THIS!

And there are 3 options, there's a button binding for each SC mode and one that will jump if a star is selected otherwise it just starts standard SC.
So I find I only use the dedicated SC binding and the one that does both.

What has this got to do with deselecting target again?
